There are certainly tricks and distortions being used, but NOT, I would suggest, by President Trump :P

Impeachment is absolutely supposed to be investigating the prez for crimes committed. so yea, sorta. What is the spirit of the law? Would ypou prefer a government that has secret tribunals with hooded judges?

Yeah dude you're even wrong about the above. **** this is becoming so disheartening. While it's kind of a side note no impeachment isn't just for crimes.

Regardless it's not a criminal trial which if you read the amendment the very first sentence specifically states

Quote

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial......

No you can't just magically wave your hands and now claim impeachment is a criminal prosecution.

The Senate trial is a continuation of the House impeachment.  All the ground work is laid there.  If there is no cross-examination in the house, then the impeachment is worthless.  Which goes to the point that the house is setting up a public lynching of the President before he has a chance to defend himself.  This is why it won’t get this far because there is nothing there.  If it does then there will be charges of treason on those that perpetrated it and Pelosi’s head will be at the top of the list.

Again your problem is with the Constitution.

I don't know what else to tell you. If you think one individual is worth voiding that document keep on arguing for it. Just be sure you fully understand what it is you're doing.

Not if it's based on third party testimony based on written testimony by invisible witnesses who say they got their information, second hand.

Exactly. "hear-say" evidence is never aloud in a court of law, and not by a hooded shielded 2nd hand non-eyewitness.

This coup brought to you  by... Deep State.

Again, I can only refer you back to @Farmer77's point; the constitution allows Congress to determine the methods for implementing the impeachment process. If that means hooded shielded 2nd hand non-eyewitnesses by a cabal of hooded 'Judges', then that's what will happen.

However, ultimately the Senate has to vote on the process. I think even some of the Democrats would hesitate to confirm impeachment if the impeachment process itself is significantly skewed.

What deep state? McConnell, Lindsay and Pelosi are all working together to limit Trumps Syria policy damage. At some point you'll just have to accept that Trump is his own worse enemy and not some imaginary boogieman that Trump has forced down your throats.

ROFL. Do you REALLY think that the Democrats care ANYTHING about Syria or the Kurds, other than its utility to damage President Trump ?

They'd happily trample babies and small puppies to get an impeachment.

What nonsense.

can we please stick to facts and not innuendo.

unless of course you have some kind of baby trampling evidence to back this statement up with.

Vitriolic hogwash only breeds more discontent from both sides.

Care to be more specific?

What is good about Trump?

Why do you think coal is coming back when they are being out competed by other forms of energy?

What new direction is the economy taking?

Are there facts or just a feeling here?

Everything is good about Trump!  Most of America sees it...the Left doesn't because they don't want to recognize anything great about the Man. In fact...all they do is demonize him.  Trump is to the Left...what Satan is to the Christians.  No one is that bad...well...Kim Jon little Fat Rocket Man is...but omg...the Left thinks Trump is so much worse than little fat guy!

Coal is coming back because statistics show it is.  And because the government is not actively trying to kill it.  There is a huge market for coal.

The new direction...see, you would already know that if you stopped paying so much gotdang attention to the Leftist Media....

The new direction is the actual direction BEFORE Obama decided we needed to Transform the Nation to Socialism.   It isn't really a new direction...it's actually the time tested OLD direction...

It's all factual...which gives most of us a good feeling!

This is actually a far more scary statement than many people will even realize.  A cross examination?  I'm assuming you mean, like, by Republicans.  That is goddamn scary that you think that way.  This is not supposed to be Partisan.  BOTH SIDES should be trying to find out the truth.  One side should not be playing defense.  It is an investigation.  Everyone should be on the same team.  And I'm sure you know that the committees are bipartisan anyway.

Very seldom do the cops invite the accused in to sit in on their investigation and cross examine their informants.  Investigations are not public.  Any charges that come out of it will be.

IF there is enough evidence in this impeachment inquiry, then it will go to a vote and become an impeachment for the senate to try.  You want precedence, two of the charges brought against Clinton were upheld, the votes closely along party lines with a dozen or less votes separating the two sides.  Those are the two that went forward.  A third charge was defeated and dropped.  As you might remember, Clinton walked.  Does that prove that Monica and everybody else that accused him were just liars plain and simple  Yet you are going to believe that all information against Trump is lies plain and simple?

How would you have felt if Clinton had talked to Newt and said, "Before this gets out of hand Newt, lets remember that you were having sex with your mistress while your wife was in the hospital with cancer.  Let me just talk to Monica in private.  She must either be confused or fantasizing.  I'n sure after I talk to her we can straighten this all out."

Ain't gonna fly.  If it goes to impeachment, the President's lawyers will have every opportunity to defend him.

Do you guys really think the founders were so naive about human nature that they did not plan for it in the Constitution?  Human nature has not changed, they wrote the document with partisanship in mind as a danger.  The process is strong enough to overcome it.  Conservatives have nearly half the votes in the house and a majority in the Senate.  The only way a conviction will happen is if enough Republican Senators vote in favor of it.

I didn't say Epstein.  I was referring to that frizzy haired violin playing Cassanova ,Albert Einstein.

But no, I am for outing the rogues on both sides,  Still for decorum, I am not suggesting we impeach Trump for having sex with Stormy Daniels.
