Are alien probes hidden on nearby asteroids ?

I have suggested the same myself.

It will be as close as possible to allow real-time information collection without giving the game away. Maybe even in deep Earth Orbit totally cloaked. But if totally cloaked isn't technologically possible then yes, in the asteroid belt.

"Powered by solar energy from the sun, these 'lurker' probes could stream vast quantities of data about our technology and culture back to its creators on some distant alien world"

Oh sure, Aliens with the tech to get here from billions of LYs away are just so enthralled with the amazing humans from planet earth that they want to know everything  about our amazing technology and send that info back home LOL

The egocentrism of man. how sad.

Perhaps it is not so much what Man did in the past or today but what he might do in the future that is worth following ?

There is an alternative to a large probe based in the Asteroid Belt or Solar System too.

We assume that no Ultra-Sub atomic particles exist but if they do something similar to electronics could be constructed. Imagine the power of a supercomputer smaller than an atom. They could disperse them into our atmosphere, they could take up home in our eyes or brains, and transmit information back.

Even worse we might have been tagged with Ultra-Sub atomics a long time ago with them replicating each time someone is born in the new host. Every single one of us might be broadcasting our whole lives to aliens without realising it.

Maybe they are watching us in the same way we watch fish in a tank.

On the flip side however, he argues, if we fail to find such a probe it may mean nobody is out there.

Just trying to figure out what we have which  would be useful to such an advanced species?

So aliens now join Google and God in knowing everything about us?

They are probably getting a better signal too seeing as the satelites are out there. <_<

The trains on Sodor say the same things in their debates on whether, or not, train spotters really exist.

So, if we somehow don't squander our planet, survive as a species, and eventually discover this probe, what are the consequences of this discovery? A geocached message that congratulates us on our transition to a mature species, or perhaps a message that says we are now too dangerous.

I suppose this article is based on the prime directive.

It makes sense in a way. Think about the Drake equation. Maybe aliens want to know what the values are for the Drake equation. The only way to do that is to observe and collect data.

Why would their care about our technology if they are so advance and are able to space travel to our solar system...
