DarkHunter Posted October 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2019 Seems that due to Mexican authorities arresting one of El Chapo's sons a large gun battle between sicarios and various cartel against the Mexican authorities is occuring in Culican. The sicarios and cartels are bringing in a lot of military grade equipment including but not limited to technicals, some of which seem to essentially be made out of dump trucks instead of just pick up trucks, .50 caliber machine guns, and various other small arms. The Mexican authorities look like they are also using military equipment. https://mobile.twitter.com/ConflictsW/status/1184990625122476032 https://mobile.twitter.com/ConflictsW/status/1184988518910758913 https://mobile.twitter.com/ConflictsW/status/1184978747382030336 https://mobile.twitter.com/ConflictsW/status/1184978070043791361 Just some tweets having videos of what is going on in Mexico.
+joc Posted October 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2019 One of El Chapo's sons is now being held by Mexican authorities, and a massive shootout is going down in the city where the drug kingpin's offspring was arrested. According to multiple reports, El Chapo's son Ovidio Guzmán López has been taken into custody in the Mexican city of Culiacán ... and masked gunmen are now trading fire with Mexican security forces. DarkHunter Posted October 18, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted October 18, 2019 Some reports are starting to come out that the Mexican authorities have released El Chapos son to protect lives and end the gun battles going on. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2019/10/18/mexico-releases-el-chapos-son-to-protect-lives-amid-chaos-in-sinaloa-city/amp/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/world/major-gun-battle-in-mexico-pits-security-forces-against-el-chapos-son/2019/10/17/c28d174a-f149-11e9-89eb-ec56cd414732_story.html%3foutputType=amp Seems the cartels came in better armed then the Mexican authorities. If the cartels are able to relatively easily turn whole cities into urban warzones and force their will on the Mexican authorities is the Mexican government even really in control anymore or should we just accept that the cartels are the real authority in Mexico. 3

It's too bad they can't be compelled to behave as a government should and clean up the crime (except their own "business") and restore order and public services. Hell, they might even get the respect of the people. If the choice is between a failed state on our border versus a peacefully administered Narco-State, I'd choose the peaceful one. My guess is that the citizens would as well so long as the rampant killing stopped. The bitter truth is that were it not for our demand, they'd lose most of their business and become less threatening. I wish the people here who are using their product had to see the faces of the dead and the families they leave behind, shattered. Feeding an addiction is not a victimless crime.

Yeah certainly a failed and corruptible state. Still cant imagine drug-dealers or terrorists causing such mayhem without inside help or foreign. This destabilisation benefits someone otherwise it would have been wiped out decades ago. Edited October 18, 2019 by Captain Risky
