UM-Bot Posted October 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2019 China has published a new image showing the strange substance found by its Yutu-2 rover on the lunar surface. https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/331466/mystery-moon-gel-revealed-in-new-photograph 2
Hazzard Posted October 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Pretty much what I and others already guessed it was.
Twisted_Caulk Posted October 23, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Mmm the Moon is secreting goo for visitors in a galactic mating ritual for visitors, much like when a female animal sprays objects to attract males while in heat.

freetoroam Posted October 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Where are they getting gel from? Not from this and it is in the article Quote One possible explanation is that the substance could be a type of dark glass that forms during an asteroid impact - the same glass previously seen by the Apollo 17 astronauts back in 1972 . "It appears to have brighter material embedded within the larger, darker regions, although there is a chance that is light glinting off a smooth surface." https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/331466/mystery-moon-gel-revealed-in-new-photograph

No, the problem is that most people don't understand what, scientifically a gel is. 1 hour ago, freetoroam said: Where are they getting gel from? From actually understanding what constitutes a gel. Most people think that a gel is a thick liquid, in fact it is a mostly liquid substance that can act like a solid. HERE is what a gel actually is. Note this: Quote Note 2: A gel can contain: 3. a polymer network formed through glassy junction points, e.g., one based on block copolymers. That is pretty much what you are quoting... so THAT is where they are getting gel from.

In any event, I rather doubt a Western scientist would have described what is in that image as a "gel".

Note this: That is pretty much what you are quoting... so THAT is where they are getting gel from. The possibility does not say gel-like, it says dark glass. Although gel can turn to glass, they do not know if this dark glass was a gel. Quote a mysterious substance that the Chinese space agency referred to as "gel-like" and "colored". https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.sciencealert.com/we-finally-have-a-photo-of-that-mysterious-substance-yutu-2-found-on-the-moon/amp Here Quote Our best guess as to what it might be: a type of glass material that formed as a result of the heat caused by the meteor impact itself. It remains unclear if the substance has any gel-like properties or is rather a solid object with a reflective surface. https://futurism.com/the-byte/china-moon-rover-gel-substance It seems glass material would have been better to use as opposed to gel. But as yet, they do not know.
freetoroam Posted October 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2019 If it is like the samples found by Apollo 17, I do not see gel mention here: Quote https://www.lpi.usra.edu/lunar/missions/apollo/apollo_17/samples/ It would make sense if what has just been found, is like what was found by Apollo 17.
