Stiff Posted October 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) It might not sound like a regular bear but it depends what that bear ate the night before. That can change its tone. Edited October 24, 2019 by Stiff gramer 2 7 Top

zygote Posted October 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Do wolves make those kinds of cries, I wonder? If not then it was a terrible beast. 1 Top
the13bats Posted October 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We need what made the sound not the sound, like a footprint we need the foot that made it... 2 1 Top
MissJatti Posted October 24, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Not saying it was bigfoot, but it was indeed freaky. 2 Top
AstralHorus Posted October 24, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2019 First impressions would be like a big cat, then maybe a wolf. Judging by what Ive heard cats and dogs do. Then a bear
+OverSword Posted October 24, 2019 #8 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I was thinking cougar or bear but after listening to several videos it doesn’t sound like them. Completely different quality and shape of sound 3 Top
+Desertrat56 Posted October 24, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 24, 2019 It sounds like a human in pain to me. Not a wolf, maybe a big cat. 1 Top

Hum, are there canoes on little rivers and good old boys up in the woods in that area? Edited October 24, 2019 by the13bats 1 1 Top
Kittens Are Jerks Posted October 24, 2019 #11 Share Posted October 24, 2019 It's a black bear. Sioux Lookout is really quite a beautiful place, and has a fascinating history. Went to their blueberry festival a few years ago and did a little exploring while there. If you think that sound is freaky, you should hear a moose! 3 1 Top

Kittens Are Jerks Posted October 24, 2019 #14 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Here's a short video of the voice/sounds of North American animals. You can compare some of your guesses to them. 4 3 Top

Chaldon Posted October 25, 2019 #17 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Definitely a wolf's howl (just in time for the season), it's simply distorted by strong echoing inside some ravine. I've heard similar echoing in forest many times, it's quite strong but also quite short, and distorts sound very heavily. 2 Top

It's exactly the time of year, after the first snowfall, when wolves form packs. Edited October 25, 2019 by Chaldon 1 Top
