Pickling liquid and herring are two things that do not go together yet my father used to love picked herring.

Iwashi and nishin, sardines and herring in rice vinegar is yummy too.

Damn people have no taste......:unsure2:

My dad was polish and his pickled herring had an odd sweetness to it. I would try a pickled fish if it was more savory.

To people with the wrong genes.  To the rest of us cilantro is delicious.

People keep responding to the above post with a laugh emoji, but it’s not a joke:

The only thing I can think of is Americanized sushi in which they take healthy basic sushi and do things like drizzle 1000 Island dressing or add cream cheese or dip it in tempura and deep fry it.

That's the way the Japanese version taste too. Sushi rice vinegar is sweet and so is teriyaki.

You never had any of my seafood tomato sauces.

Maybe the problem is I am not fond of seafood.  I would rather roast a lizard on a stick over an camp fire and eat that than eat a boiled lobster, even with the butter.

Reptiles taste way better than lobster. They are just chunks of rubber.

Now you made me think of Tempura Udon... on a cold cloudy day such as this.  Excellent!

I think most American versions of Asian foods are pretty bad and to call it fusion food is worse.  I've been saying that for years about horror movies also!
