The Impeachment Inquiry only became official once guilt had been established,

Really ? I man.. TRULY ?

Then it is not an investigation, it is a mixture of lynch mob and farce. Guilt has NOT been established in any meaningful way. It has been alleged and - according to media reports - it has been corroborated by various people.. NONE of whom have been cross-examined.

@ExpandMyMind, if you REALLY believe in what you have just said, then you have crossed the line and are now a fascist.

Look, all they've done is interview people who lived through it. All the evidence has come from people with first hand knowledge.

The latest one we know about is the Pentagon's deputy assistant secretary to Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia who said not only was it withheld until they announce an investigation, but Trump also wanted Ukraine to effectively absolve Russia of the 2016 election interference. That undermines the entire US government. The House, the Senate, CIA, FBI, NSA, State Department, DoD, the Pentagon - all of them agree that Russia hacked the DNC and interfered in the election. To undermine all of those organisations in order to protect Russia is unthinkable.

More on the story:

Lindsey Graham is 'confident' the whistleblower is 'from the deep state'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) likely didn't appreciate House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff's (D-Calif.) denial of a House GOP request to have Hunter Biden and the anonymous whistleblower testify in the congressional impeachment inquiry's upcoming public hearings. In a Fox News interview Sunday, Graham said he believes it would be beneficial to have Biden testify, but was even more adamant about the whistleblower, whose complaint about President Trump's phone call in July with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spurred the impeachment inquiry.

Trump blames media for his behaviour, makes series of false claims then says whistleblower's lawyer should be sued for treason

Donald Trump has blamed the media for his behaviour before claiming the impeachment inquiry was a hoax and suggesting a whistleblower’s lawyer should be sued for treason. The US president lashed out at the “fake news” - a pejorative term he routinely deploys to describe media outlets which publish stories that reflect badly in him - during a two-minute rant in response to criticism that his “unpresidential deportment” was tearing the country apart.

Intriguing.

Unprecedented, and likely to cause a public uproar ?

It would be unprecedented of course this is only the 4th in history so precedent is lean.

IDK about the public uproar part. IF everyone played along it could be sold to the base in advance as payback (aka getting a "win") to the Dems for their "secret" house proceedings. Or at least the part of the base that would theoretically cause an uproar. Otherwise I  think the majority on both sides are beginning to understand the position the GOP senators are in.

I know what he's saying. He's saying the US extorts countries all the time, and they do. The difference here, and why his argument doesn't hold up, is that this wasn't the 'US' in the name of foreign policy, this was Trump in the name of personal gain and against the law according to his own State Department. That's the difference. It's not difficult to see the distinction.

Props to NBC on their dogged search for the truth everyday and here in the Trump Ukraine Scandal. Too bad though that they didn't do the same thing with the Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer cases. I guess it's a good thing Ms. Guthrie isn't deciding President Trump's fate, seems like she has already made up her mind. Not to worry though I'm sure that Chairman Schiff and the House Committee will give President Trump a fair shake.

Nikki Haley defends Trump’s Ukraine call in heated ‘Today’ interview

Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley stuck to her guns during a heated interview on the “Today” show Tuesday in defending President Trump’s phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart. Haley, 47, who has been defending Trump in a media tour to promote her new tome, “With All Due Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace,” joined Savannah Guthrie, who urged the former ambassador to “stick only to the undisputed facts.” During the 10-minute grilling, Haley defended her former boss’s July 25 call with President Volodymyr Zelensky that sparked an impeachment inquiry.

What you've said here is ridiculous, of course.

Rand Paul said Trump (or any president) is obligated to ensure that aid does not go to corrupt foreign governments.  Biden and his idiot son had made such a mess with their influence-peddling in Ukraine, even the Obama administration became alarmed and launched an investigation and cover-up...so EVERYBODY knew it was a problem.  Of course Trump suggested the new Ukrainian government look into it; he pretty much HAD to, by law.

What you've suggested here is that the Bidens (or any Dem) can NEVER be investigated because Trump may accrue political gain as a result.  That is incredibly stupid.

Did you see Biden get asked questions by Erin Burnett yesterday?  He looked (and sounded) like fresh roadkill.

Trump will leave a lot of dead political careers in his wake.

You , um ,...I ...uh bwahahahahaha OMG that's good stuff

Does the GOP think we're all mindless Qanon fanboys?

Since we're now living in your newest Fantasyland 'll be looking for our repayment checks from Saudi Arabia among others.

Not to mention the childish downplaying of the mission for the aid. Which is par for the course at this point. Kinda funny  that pattern

You are quite correct to assume the Bidens should be investigated for taking money from Saudi Arabia...the Clinton Foundation, too.

Good work, Farmer!

More on the story: I wasn't able to find a comparable article yet but I'll keep digging. It's possible Fox News just made the whole thing up to help President Trump and then let the their sister company the NY Post release it to give it some credibility.

Complaint alleges whistle blower who touched off impeachment inquiry violated federal law

A new complaint to the Intelligence Community Inspector General alleges that the whistleblower whose allegations touched off House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry may have violated federal law by indirectly soliciting more than a quarter-million dollars from mostly anonymous sources via a GoFundMe page. The complaint, which was filed anonymously last week and obtained by Fox News, alleged the donations from roughly 6,000 individuals “clearly constitute” gifts to a current intelligence official that may be restricted because of the employee’s official position under ethics laws.

I thought most of the testimony so far was second hand, and third hand in some instances. Most everyone who has first hand knowledge either is hedging, or hasnt talked yet.

The Wall Street Journal reported on September 30 that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also listened in on the call.[114] Two days later, The Washington Post reported that Vice President Mike Pence's National Security Advisor Keith Kellogg had listened in on the call as well, and that "Pence should have had access to the transcript within hours."[1] Others on the line included Tim Morrison, the National Security Council's senior director for Europe and Russia; Rob Blair, an aide to Mick Mulvaney; and possibly Alexander Vindman, a Ukraine expert for the NSC.[25]

Have any of these people given a damning statement? Vindman is the only one I'm aware of that's gone on record and testified to Congress.

Guiliani also hasnt given a statement to Congress, I believe.

Who else had first hand knowledge? First hand knowledge would be limited to those who were there and listened in on the call.

“A US intelligence officer who filed an urgent report of government misconduct needs your help. This brave individual took an oath to protect and defend our Constitution. We’re working with the whistleblower and launched a crowdfunding effort to support the whistleblower’s lawyers,” Tye wrote on the page.

So, doesn't that imply that this guy, John Tye, knows the Whistleblowers real identity? I wonder who told him the name?

So Republican Congressmen with need to know cant know this guys name, but a small time former official running a fly by night organization for whistleblowers had no trouble getting the name?

If the call was the only thing that happened then sure you'd be correct. There was however a whole ton of other coordination of the campaign to pressure Zelinsky than just the phone call. The witnesses to that coordination are testifying.

I wasn’t arguing with you, just posted a video of what you mentioned so people could decide what he said for himself. I like Rands idea of hooking trump up to a lie detector to see if he believes there was corruption on the part of the Biden’s. Not that he will be put on a detector though of course.

Well Nikki does have a point. There was no investigation and yet the aid money flowed as it was supposed to flow. Although it is wrong for trump to have encouraged an investigation into Biden because of Biden’s status as a presidential candidate there was absolutely no QPQ and that is established fact. That really pulls much of the guts out of the argument to impeach.

It's highly undemocratic to me to allow a secret ballot of elected officials.

Obviously, we should know how the people we elect vote...

Imagine if all votes were that way. Would we even be a democracy.

But some people will want anything if it helps get rid of Trump it seems.

When this impeachment officially falls apart, I wonder if we need to start a pool as to when and what the next thing will be that the President is guilty of?
