Japan 'bans' women wearing glasses at work

Wearing glasses at work has become an emotive topic in Japan following reports that some firms have told female employees to remove them.

Several local news outlets said some companies had "banned" eyewear for female employees for various reasons.

Among them, some retail chains reportedly said glasses-wearing shop assistants gave a "cold impression".

That has sparked heated discussion on Japanese social media over dress practices and women in the workplace.

Ain't it great to be an American?  Yes it is.  An American woman would sue...especially if she was a man transgendering to womanhood.  Or vise versa.

That is crazy!  Do they not have near sighted women who can't wear contacts for some reason?

Among them, some retail chains reportedly said glasses-wearing shop assistants gave a "cold impression".

Any woman I have seen with a "cold expression" has the expression and the glasses make no difference  Some of the most jolly looking people I know wear glasses.  Maybe they need to make sure their employees get enough to eat instead of taking away their glasses.
