It's already too late to do anything about North Korea.

Hah, the sad thing is that's not even the right quote.  It should work as a paraphrase though.

North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

In terms of Iran, there are a couple of things that are undermining the regime.  Firstly, the proxy war with Saudi Arabia is expensive for them and isn't making them any friends.  Secondly, famous CIA proxy company Standard Oil wisely chose to build very few oil refineries anywhere in the Middle East.  It's a bit like not selling guns to the natives; just practical imperialism, but it is still surprising that neither China nor Russia saw this as an opportunity to make some cash.

On a related note, it is worth pointing out that a good deal of Putin's foreign policy seems to have been focusing on the Middle East.  Consider:

The attack on Ukraine with a view to taking back the Black Sea fleet.

The use of brinkmanship and the threat of all out war to get Erdogan to open the Bosphorus to the Russian fleet.

The recent diplomatic initiative with the Saudis.

The heavy intervention in Syria.

Threats of a new arsenal of high tech weapons (some of which haven't blown up killing Russian servicemen).

Russian support for the Iranian nuclear industry.

On the other hand, for all that, does anybody have any clue if the Russians have actually achieved anything at all in the region?  Is it all just a desperate cry for attention?  I mean, is this all merely an attempt to make Russia seem like it has international clout?  If the aim was to get at the oil, it has failed.  If the aim was to destabilize US foreign policy by collapsing the House of Saud, thus far it has failed.  If the aim was to get Iran a nuclear weapon, then that too has failed thus far.  The whole mission seems abortive and confused, and symptomatic of US foreign policy at its very worst; i.e. directionless, poorly considered, and self contradictory.  Really if it wasn't for Trump's own goal of betraying the Kurds again, then really all the Russians have done is prop up Assad, and Syria is now more a collection of ruins than a nation.

You left something out...Russia's desire to diminish the United States and their narcissistic goals of world domination.  The only thing holding them back is America.

Russia created...The Left.   They created the left and have employed it's use as a weapon of slow mass destruction for decades.  One bastion remains to be overcome...America.  Anyone who thinks Putin wanted Trump in the White House has no real clue about Russia.  Obama was their guy...Hillary was their girl.  The goal was to continue to decline America's military, continue to diminish America's Energy Production Capability, and flood our borders with illegal immigrants from Syria and other Muslim countries...effectively diminishing our entire Americana culture and at the same time creating a block of voters that would usher in the State of Socialism they have sought for so long, diminish Freedom in the world and allow...finally...Russia...to control American Foreign Policy, American Energy Production, and America's military, and...most importantly...America's People.
