Here is another investigation into possible government corruption that should be concluded in the near future

Justice Dept. Is Said to Open Criminal Inquiry Into Its Own Russia Investigation

For more than two years, President Trump has repeatedly attacked the Russia investigation, portraying it as a hoax and illegal even months after the special counsel closed it. Now, Mr. Trump’s own Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into how it all began. Justice Department officials have shifted an administrative review of the Russia investigation closely overseen by Attorney General William P. Barr to a criminal inquiry, according to two people familiar with the matter. The move gives the prosecutor running it, John H. Durham, the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to convene a grand jury and to file criminal charges.

Durham's investigation into possible FBI misconduct is now criminal probe, sources say

U.S. Attorney John Durham's ongoing probe into potential FBI and Justice Department misconduct in the run-up to the 2016 election through the spring of 2017 has transitioned into a full-fledged criminal investigation, two sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News on Thursday night. One source added that DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's upcoming report on alleged FBI surveillance abuses against the Trump campaign will shed light on why Durham's probe has become a criminal inquiry. Horowitz announced on Thursday his report would be available to the public soon, with "few" redactions.

More on this story and my thanks to Tiggs who provided the link to this well respected and unbiased website in another thread

Bill Barr’s Witch Hunt

Attorney General Bill Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham are traveling around the world trying to get foreign governments to give credence to a conspiracy theory that they believe will undermine the FBI’s decision to open an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. This effort is an abuse of power, purely designed to help President Donald Trump politically. The fact is, it would have been malpractice if the FBI had not opened its investigation in the summer of 2016.

I'm confused as to where the 'criminal' part of the report is. I think I must be getting reports mixed up or something? According to the report just provided by BG, the FBI didn't actually break any laws. That I can see, I should add. I didn't read the full thing.

More on the ever growing story that all began during the 2016 election cycle. Please note that this article initially appeared in the Wall Street Journal that has a paywall and I posted the NY Post article instead those of you who don't subscribe to the WSJ.

FBI wants to interview whistleblower in Trump impeachment effort

The FBI is reportedly looking to interview the whistleblower whose complaint about President Trump’s Ukraine call sparked the ongoing House impeachment proceedings. The federal agency has twice reached out to the whistleblower’s legal team requesting their cooperation in a probe that appears to be in its infancy stages — but which the whistleblower doesn’t appear to be the target of, people familiar with the situation told The Wall Street Journal. It’s unclear exactly why the feds want to talk to the whistleblower, and the agency didn’t respond to a request for comment from the paper.

Trump is applying an enormous amount of pressure to get to the whistle blower. You'd think he's staking his whole political career on getting his hands on him. Foolish. The whistle blower is redundant now because his testimony was recorded in front of witnesses all according to procedure. I personally believe it's plain and simple revenge for daring to go against the god king's machinations. Just like his whole presidency will be forever known as the " Revenge Tour". All because Obama called him out at a press gala for 7 years of birtherism propaganda. He even admitted it.

Not quite.  Since the whistleblower and the impeachment scheme that followed it are purely CIA constructs, Trump is right to bring it out into the open.

The CIA is trying to overthrow (or remove) another US president, and the American people need to know about it.

The American people also will find out why the CIA is so desperate to cover up for the previous administration.

Torches and pitchforks await the traitors.

Lol, I keep seeing the rabble villagers from Young Frankenstein in my mind's eye. You bluster because you have nothing to refute with but tired, debunked conspiracy theories. Really, it's all that the gop have now. Devin Nunes face was proof today. You did watch the hearings today, didn't you?

From the article:

Some witnesses who have been interviewed in Horowitz's investigation have said they expect the inspector general to find mistakes in the FBI's handling of the FISA process, but that those mistakes do not undermine the premise for the FBI's investigation.

And some (nameless) witnesses might say otherwise in another article. As it stands, somebody is under criminal investigation. Also, how do we know who the witnesses are? Do we have access to that information?

Just giving some perspective since the usual idiots will be yelling about that headline as if its proof that every piece of tinfoil hat nuttery thrown out there is legitimate.

That's just not true man. It's a development and that's all. I'm not ready to yell about the storm yet.

Again though, who are the witnesses? I'm not saying CNN made that up but they easily could be. Journalism and fan fiction go hand in hand these days.

IDK and honesly im not trying to be argumentative because we agree on the need for transparency here but I want to see all the source materials for the the same but opposite reason the DOJ and fan fiction go hand in hand these days.

The dam may well be about to break.  You'll note that this leak was to CNN.  They wanted to get ahead of the story.  An FBI agent who substantially changed the course of the FISA process by falsifying evidence isn't something they will easily be able to spin.  Not credibly, anyway.

A True American who defied the odds and stood against a rising tide of corruption and misogyny in order to defeat the Bad Orange Man? He’s a folk hero like Robin Hood. So what if he broke some piddling little law. He did it for the right reason!

That's good.  It will probably be close to how the spin goes.  The only problem is Durham doesn't appear to give a rat's patoot about anything but what law was broken.  I don't care if the corrupt SOB is made a martyr of their cause so long as he suffers the penalty of the law.

More reports are coming out as the Horowitz and Durham investigations move toward a conclusion.

FBI lawyer allegedly altered document related to surveillance of Trump campaign adviser

A former FBI lawyer allegedly altered a document related to surveillance of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page during the 2016 election, a report said Thursday. The evidence of the altered document was turned over to federal prosecutor John Durham, who is investigating how intelligence was gathered by agencies including the CIA and FBI during the probe into the Trump campaign, CNN reported. It’s not clear what role the altered document played in the investigation into Page — or if a FISA warrant against him would have been ok’d without the fudged document, according to the report.

Former FBI lawyer under investigation after allegedly altering document in 2016 Russia probe

A former FBI lawyer is under criminal investigation after allegedly altering a document related to 2016 surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser, several people briefed on the matter told CNN. The possibility of a substantive change to an investigative document is likely to fuel accusations from President Donald Trump and his allies that the FBI committed wrongdoing in its investigation of connections between Russian election meddling and the Trump campaign.

Well let's go ahead and wait to see if any laws were indeed broken before sizing up the casket.

It seems this is at least the third time we've spent weeks being told the "real story" was about to come out by RW media only for it fizzle .

More on the story:

The Last Trusted Prosecutor in Washington

John Durham may be the most consequential and least known figure in Washington right now. In May, U.S. attorney general William Barr selected Durham, a longtime prosecutor with a résumé so sterling it nearly glows, to investigate the origins of the special counsel’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and whether it was properly predicated. Some Trump fans believe there was a vast effort by a “deep state” of high-ranking intelligence and law-enforcement officials to smear Trump or hinder his campaign by creating a perception of corrupt ties to Russia. In late October, the New York Times quoted unnamed sources who said that Durham’s probe had officially become a criminal investigation, meaning he now has the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to convene a grand jury, and to file criminal charges.

Am sure eez trustworthiness willnae come intae question a' aw by Republicans.

Quote

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s inspector general found no evidence that the F.B.I. attempted to place undercover agents or informants inside Donald J. Trump’s campaign in 2016 as agents investigated whether his associates conspired with Russia's election interference operation, people familiar with a draft of the inspector general’s report said.
