Christians in China being fingerprinted

Eldorado

Recommended Posts

"Face and fingerprint scanning technology is reportedly being implemented in churches in China as the state continues its crackdown on religious minorities.

"Bitter Winter reports that facial recognition technology was installed at an official church in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

"On October 6, two biometric devices were set up on the second floor of the Muyang Church in Huangshi city, Hubei, central China.  Since the installation of the devices, members of the congregation have had to wait in line to have their faces and fingerprints scanned before being allowed to enter the church, Bitter Winter reports."

Sharp Eyes: (emphasis mine)

"We aim to shed light on this surveillance program in particular because it has been overshadowed by other programs such as the social credit system and the use of facial recognition to shame rule-breakers.

"In addition, by extending surveillance into rural areas, the program demonstrates how expansive Beijing’s aims are: to create a truly omnipresent surveillance state."

Bitter Winter is run by Falun Gong and Christian Today is always whining about the "poor persecuted Christian".

Just another example of a totalitarian government that demands control over all aspects of the lives of the people.  I'm sure that Xi and company don't want a growing population of citizens whose loyalties to the State are superceded by a religious faith that makes them willing to die to practice it, if need be.  That's no good at ALL ;)

You're an apologist for your favourites.

Nope, giving a opposing view.

The U.S. always makes it's own enemies and my people were stomped even harder than any group in China.

It was the greatest genocide in recorded history and it is completely denied.

Good law abiding Christians, be they Catholics or Protestants, have no problems at all, all over China, in fact China loves them more than Jesus does at times...

These articles keep saying "the persecution of religious minorities" yet I don't see any Tengrist being bothered.

..and they are the smaller religion in China.

"Nearly 140 million Christians suffered high levels of persecution in Asia last year, according to a new report, which described the situation facing the faith in China as the worst since the Cultural Revolution. "

I'll just leave some more "fake" media here.

Quote

It is almost impossible to hear from Uighurs in Xinjiang, as any communication with journalists or people outside the region can land them in detention. Uighurs living abroad previously told Business Insider that their relatives in the region had blocked them online to avoid being punished for communicating with outsiders

Those Uighurs so called living abroad are on the run from the law, Chinese nationals abroad have no problems keeping in touch with families and friends back home at all.

This is all just so silly and tiresome it's becoming embarrassing.

Look on the bright side.  You got Casinos out of the deal ;)   I really don't mean to make too light of it, I'm sure it was brutal as hell.  People have an annoying habit of crushing the weak and subjugating them for profit.  All cultures, all countries have had a taste of that because it isn't geography or society specific, it's just a human thing.  Apparently, it is now ******'s turn.

Funny situation, true story.  We moved to Jackson Mississippi a decade ago for a position for my wife.  Whites are a minority in Jackson and we didn't realize that until we were in the Mall one day.  It was hilarious to be surrounded by black folk of all ages and statuses who were being very obvious with their attitude of superiority.  It occurred to me that when faced with that kind of nastiness, being offended really IS optional.  Put another way, if you refuse to buy into their narrative, are you really oppressed?

I guess you shouldn't get involved with ISIS.

Are all the Uighurs Islamist Fundamentalist or is this just an example of how the lords of the Middle Kingdom handle their people problems?  Serious question.  I hadn't heard of a problem with terror attacks in China by Islamists.  Are they crushing these people for religious or economic reasons?

It got nipped in the bud quick. Saudi and Pakistani citizens were captured and "made to talk".  But yeah, the Uighurs claim a false history and went full fundy.
