Kinda reminds me of this vid with Jeremy Wade and the Canderu fish.

Gird your loins guys. Ladies, you can point and laugh.

That video is great. You can tell the presenter is dying to burst out laughing.

My face throughout that video.

Regarding the story in the video, how did the candaru leap out of the water, force itself upstream through the guy's urine, and embed itself in the urethra?  It's a tiny little weakling of a fish, not a bullet.

It obviously wasn't its first rodeo

I think it jumped out of the water, following his pee stream (I think urine attracts them in the first place) and used its teeth or claw things to slowly edge its way towards his bladder. That's how it navigates out of water, by a series of small bites.

I'm no Nancy Drew or anything, but he said that while he was urinating, he felt a bit of a shock and before he knew it a candaru was already in there with just a bit of its tail hanging out. So that would have taken how long? A couple of seconds? That doesn't give the candaru time to slowly claw and nibble its way in. There is just no way a fish that tiny would have had the strength to fight it's way upstream past the guy's urine and jam most of itself into his you know what.

Decided to look candirus up to see if they had super sonic speed super powers and managed to also find a reference to the story in the video. It's veracity has been questioned for a number of reasons, including the one I mentioned. The story is mentioned under the sub-heading Modern cases, about half-way down the article.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candiru

I don't, however, doubt the first story posted. Remind me never to take a dip in Lake Malawi or any other lake like it.

I have heard about the Candiru parasitic fish that can swim up your urine stream into your Johnson. However It's native to the Amazonas.
