Thanksgiving and Black Friday store hours: Here's when major retailers are open for deals

Turkey or television? Pumpkin pie or PlayStation? While Black Friday sales kick off online before the turkey defrosts, for legions of shoppers, the holiday shopping season starts in stores Thursday. Major retailers, including Target, Walmart, Best Buy, J.C. Penney, Macy's and Kohl's will flash some of their lowest prices of the year with in-store Black Friday specials on Thanksgiving Day. Because of state laws, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island stores will remain closed Thanksgiving and could have different hours Friday. Stores in some areas also have varied hours because of county or municipal laws. Hours can also vary by location and quantities of the door buster deals are limited. To help you plan your shopping spree down to the minute, here are Thanksgiving and Black Friday store hours.

we have 1 guy at work who always takes off Friday after TG, so he can hit the stores, at as early as 5am,  it is more of a sport to him than savings,  he always has funny stories to tell on Monday.

A friend of mine broke her leg when she got caught up in a stampede of folks trying to buy a desktop computer.

I never even considered going out into it until I had kids. Now I put on my football pads, put in my mouthpiece and knock over old ladies for a $2 discount on a frying pan.
