Irrespective of how things turn out in the Senate trial, the impeachment articles will record for all time that this president is “a threat to national security and the Constitution ... and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law.”

History will forever instruct posterity that Donald Trump “has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”

You have never let fact get in the way of your narrative.

Facts........ schmacts.......

Jimmy Dore is not a Trump supporter and identifies as a Progressive....
but he's honest, fair and principled.... something that can't be said of the Democrats
regarding the Impeachment Sham... (and all the other stuff like Russia Collusion Hoax)

Remember.... the security community "has six ways from Sunday to get back at you..." (Schumer)

and that tells us what we need to know about the Sham Impeachment .....

Another mantra, I am shocked !

Sorry I cant hear you my "TDS" has forced me into a state of "irrational hatred" because I "cant accept the results of the election" so am now a "snowflake" who must run to his "safe space".

Holy hell man. Such simple propaganda is only designed to keep you from being able to hear the other side.

Hmmmm getting to 51 is looking tougher and tougher for McConnell

An old quote from Susan Collins has resurfaced to haunt the GOP as impeachment looms

Quote

The C-SPAN clip from January 27, 1999, shows Collins, a senator even back then, discussing the then-ongoing impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

“I am willing to travel the road wherever it leads, whether it’s to the conviction or the acquittal of the president,” Collins said. “But in order to do that, I need more evidence. I need witnesses and further evidence to guide me to the right destination, to get to the truth.”

She continued: “There is indeed a mountain of evidence. But there is also a record that is replete with conflicting statements, with significant gaps, and with unanswered questions. We need to answer those questions in order to fulfill our duty to do impartial justice. I want to be fair to the president, I want to give him the opportunity to have his lawyers question witnesses if, in fact, we get to that stage.” (Collins eventually voted to acquit Clinton on both articles of impeachment.)

This sums up the impeachment process rather nicely.

Man I watched that and that guy doesnt think anything is impeachable without a confession.

Honestly In a vacuum I actually would almost agree with him about going to SCOTUS to demand testimonies if they were necessary. Considering however that the accusations are regarding election interference and Trump has openly confessed, if they honestly believe what he did was wrong it would be a dereliction of their duty to wait any longer and allow him to further interfere while waiting for extraneous testimony.

I personally think this sums up this impeachment perfectly.

And lets be honest. You dont allow the big I to be forever stamped next to your name because youre holding exculpatory evidence out of some sense of spite for those asking.

If he had a documentary case, or someone willing to give testimony,  that showed he had some interest in Ukraine beyond hurting democrats and helping Russia he would have been waving it around in front of the cameras long before this no SCOTUS needed.

You might want to actually try that.

Lets divide the American electorate into 3 camps:

Hard-Core Left: They will always manage to convince themselves that Trump is a inept corrupt moron who is a danger to world people and useless at everything. Therefore they believe Trump should be impeached even though he has done nothing any reasonable person would see as impeachable.

Hard-Core Right: They love Trump and think he is the greatest US President in history. He can do no wrong in their eyes and the sun quite literally shines out of his butthole. He should be cleared of impeachment.

Middle-Ground: This is where the vast majority of the US public sit and they simply vote for the party in an election they think will be best for America. It is here that the Democrats are currently committing electorate suicide. The middle do not share in the Hard-Core Left distortions of Trump and can see the impeachment for what it really is. Another desperate, disgraceful, and shady attempt to get rid of Trump.

This will all come back to haunt the Democrats in the coming 2020 election. That party is making a mockery of democracy and the middle ground can all see that. When politicians stop representing the regular public, when they constantly try to character assassinate and destroy those that do, then the middle ground can see them for what they really are - out of control tyrants masquerading as the peoples representatives.

We have just had something similar go down in the UK General Election and the two parties doing it got absolutely destroyed by the electorate. Our middle ground ran as fast as they could from the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats, they fled right to Boris! A landslide Republican win is coming in 2020.

@Farmer77, I read the CNN "fact check" article, and I consider it flawed. At times, it mixed editorial opinions with 'smoke and mirrors' misdirection. In some cases, it appears plain wrong ?

It's not ENTIRELY wrong, but many of its "fact" claims are open to debate !

Americans living 100 years from now will look back at today as a dirty stain on US history.

But rather than being Trump they look at in disgust it will be the Democrats. The USA has gone bonkers over the last 30 years with minorities and identity politics taking precedent over sane government policies. Things have gradually deteriorated to the current mess today that is the Democrat Party.

Trump won the election because the ordinary voter has had enough of them. But rather than listen they are trying to destroy via any means possible the leader they elected to fix their country. I predict today is both the low point and the turning point where their country will start the move back towards sanity.

Trump is going to be seen in the history books as a hero, the saviour of the USA, the one who stood his ground against these left-wing tyrants by ramming democracy down their throats. The Democrats are going to be handed one of the worst (if not the worst) election results in US history come 2020.

Blimey.. we'd be here for DAYS ... but.. OK.

For openers, they claim that Trump's letter was wrong, because he got the Electoral Votes wrong. He claimed he had a landslide win. The CNN 'fact checker' then obsesses that he got the figures wrong. He understated Hilary's vote by 2-3, and exaggerated HIS vote by a similar amount.

Seeing as the figures where something like 232 (Hilary) to 307 (Trump), this is a ridiculous quibble. Nevertheless, it is trumped - so to speak - as being an example where his letter was factually inaccurate.
