56 hungry polar bears besiege village

Recommended Posts

Eldorado

"Abnormally warm weather in Russia’s easternmost region caused a polar bear ’siege’ with 56 predators gathered at a site near the village of Ryrkaipiy.

"‘Nearly all polar bears are skinny. There are adult bears, adolescents and mother bears with cubs of different ages’, said Tatiana Minenko, head of the WWF Polar Bear Patrol in Ryrkaipiy.

"The animals are currently feeding on seal carcasses left around Cape Kozhevnkov.

"These were left from early autumn when thousands of seals stayed there.

"The seals left the rookery in November and there won’t be a top up on food."

"Environmentalists and residents said weak Arctic ice has left the bears unable to roam, with the Russian branch of the World Wildlife Fund saying climate change was to blame, as unusually warm temperatures prevented coastal ice from forming. That's a bit ludicrous since the story is that the Polar Bears 'roamed' into a town in search of food.

Here is the r e a l  story....   Russian branch of the World Wildlife Fund

Maybe if they wouldn't leave seal carcasses laying around the Polar Bears wouldn't be there to begin with.

All the snow and ice on the ground doesn't really say 'warm' to me...and...those Polar Bears are not 'skinny'...since when are Polar Bears suppose to be fat?  They no doubt followed the smell of rotting seal carcasses for miles and miles and miles...like I said...otherwise they wouldn't even be there.

And...when are Polar Bears NOT hungry?
