University and college mean different things here.  University actually has that in the name, college is usually a community college or lesser educational entity.

Ptttht, then take both words for where you live... and you didn’t give an option to forward... it’s college round here.

Is Christmas the eve, the day, or both?

Not something that is common here and I suspect that many Canadians wouldn't be familiar with either of those names.

If anything, we'd probably just call them lanterns.

Candy floss or cotton candy?

Plaster or band aid?

Kind of depends? The lil bits of tape and bandage you peel out of a paper wrapping is a band-aid. If it starts to involve poultices or smears under gauze, it's a plaster. And heh, if it involves tape, from electrcal and duct to whatever- it's taped.

What are your undergarments? Unmentionables, underwear...

Downtown and uptown are two different parts of town. Midtown too.

What do you call the everyday shoes you wear while out and about? Sneakers, tennies, walking shoes......

That's a difficult one to answer as shoes are typically called what they are (tennis, walking, running, etc.). But the most common all-encompassing descriptions for every day shoes would be runners or running shoes, sometimes sneakers.

Purse and bag are two different things here. A purse is what we keep money in, like coins and banknotes. A bag is a handbag, shoulder bag, tote bag, shopper etc. But I think what you call a purse, we call a bag.

Do you say tin or can? e.g. beans or soup
