Las Vegas pigeons wearing cowboy hats

"Someone in Las Vegas has been putting tiny cowboy hats on the heads of Las Vegas pigeons, and while you might be asking yourself why, one local onlooker only has one explanation: “the rodeo is in town.”

"That’s what Robert Lee told Storyful when asked about the pigeons he recorded wearing miniature cowboy hats.

“That’s the only explanation I have,” said Lee. “I saw something red on the pigeon’s head and looked down to these awesome things,” he said.

"KVVU reported that a local animal rescue and pigeon advocacy group known as Lofty Hopes has serious concerns about the negative impacts the hats will have on the pigeons. "

Pigeon with sombrero on its head spotted in Reno

Reno City Manager Sabra Newby spotted a pigeon wearing a sombrero and Tweeted about it on Wednesday.

This follows a pigeon in Las Vegas with a cowboy hat glued to its head that died earlier this week.

Washoe County Animal Services said this is the first known instance of something like this in the area.

On the surface, it's funny and cute. In reality, it sounds like the hats are being glued on, and until some article explains that (and some vet who specializes in birds examines one of these pigeons) I'm a little mad, here. At best, it's non-toxic temporary glue that won't harm the bird and fall off in a few days. Even then...This must mark them for predators and make it harder to fly and feed.
So, yeah. I think this is cruel. How cruel, exactly, remains to be reported on.

OK, that pretty much answers my question...
