"YouTube will no longer allow videos that "maliciously insult someone" based on "protected attributes" such as race, gender identity or sexuality.

"The video-sharing platform will also ban "implied threats of violence" as part of its new harassment policy.

"A row erupted in June after a prominent video-maker said he had been the target of abuse by another YouTube star."

Full report at the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-50733180

"YouTube also said it will no longer permit "maliciously" insulting someone based on characteristics like race, gender expression or sexual orientation, whether it's a private individual, YouTube personality or public figure. The policy applies to content, as well as comments."

Happened already last year with Tumblr banning all adult content.

The same Tumblr that still allows people to post pictures of themselves in Nazi/SS uniforms

That should earn a lot for them ;)   I agree that openly calling for violence against anyone should be censored.  Beyond THAT?  It's just ideological censorship.  Screw them and their platform.

Another rule that will only be applied to those who go against the progressive narrative.

At least this opens the door for another platform, which will protect free speech, to grow with the new banned content creators

I'm sure they will probably do that to small content creators. But You-tubers who have thousands or millions of subscribers will probably not even get a slap on the wrist.

It's what people fail to realize, yeah, sure, the rule sounds reasonable, but if unequally applied then it means nonething.

For example, this guy, the change my mind guy. The meme everyone has seen. Well his channel has been completly demonitized, which means despite the hundreds of thousands to millions who watch his videos he makes no money off them anymore.

Also they made it so if you search change my mind on YouTube the actually video is hard to find.

Yeah I love Crowder. He's the only right wing equivalent of a late night talk show. Risque comedy is now punishable by demonetization, but only if you are right wing

Yeah but thats not about a "progressive narrative", unless just not being a bullying ******* is now a "progressive value".

Quote

In an edited video compilation, Crowder calls Maza a “lispy sprite,” a “little queer,” “Mr. Gay Vox,” “Mr. Lispy queer from Vox,” “an angry little queer,” “gay Mexican,” “gay Latino from Vox,” and more. Crowder also breaks into a caricatured gay voice at points and appears to pantomime oral sex with his microphone. During one of the segments, Crowder wears a shirt that says “Socialism is for f — s.”

Of course "im just joking" is every smartass pansy's response when he realizes his words are about to translate into real world action.

Conversely its also the white supremacist playbook :

Quote

Generally, when using racial slurs, it should come across as half-joking—like a racist joke that everyone laughs at because it’s true,” reads the style guide used by The Daily Stormer, a copy of which the Huffington Post got its hands on this week.

The Daily Stormer is a prominent America-based neo-Nazi and white supremacist website that takes its name and more from Der Stürmer, the tabloid newspaper of the Nazi Party. And what it seems to be saying with that “half-joking” advice and much else in the guide is: “Don the Magic Cloak of Plausible Deniability and come with us!”

Neo-Nazis are no joke—they just want you to think they are

No im not calling Crowder a Nazi just recognizing the tactic and its current popularity.
