Human teeth used as jewellery 8,500 years ago

At a prehistoric archaeological site in Turkey, researchers have discovered two 8,500-year-old human teeth, which had been used as pendants in a necklace or bracelet. Researchers have never documented this practice before in the prehistoric Near East, and the rarity of the find suggests that the human teeth were imbued with profound symbolic meaning for the people who wore them.

Interesting and a little creepy.  It’s interesting that people were able to drill such precise holes 8,500 years ago, creepy that the teeth were worn for decoration IMO.  Is this a practice of remembrance from a lost loved one, or is this a trophy type relic from the destruction of one’s enemies?  Or is there another potential explanation?

It's only a matter of a steady hand and paying attention.

They still do that in the Middle East, and in many other places around the world. It's kinda unnerving to see it, but it just goes to show that this tradition is alive and well.

With a bow drill probably. It's been around for about 50,000 years.

From the looks of it they used some sort a of cryptocrystalline tip instead of a reed and sand.
