Eldorado Posted December 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2019 "A Harvard University geneticist is developing a dating app that compares a person's DNA and removes matches that would result in passing genetic diseases to their children. "Professor George Church at Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is developing a novel genetics-based dating app, called Digid8, which he believes would be able to eliminate inherited diseases from humans. Church told 60 Minutes: 'You wouldn't find out who you're not compatible with. You'll just find out who you are compatible with.'" "George Church’s dating app proposes to match users based on their DNA in an attempt to eliminate genetic diseases. In a 60 Minutes episode from 9 December, Church confirmed that the app would screen out potential partners who are considered to have the “wrong” DNA." moonman Posted December 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2019 (edited) Not a bad idea, but marketing it as a "dating app" and not showing incompatibilities is dumb. It's more like a "safe procreation" app. Edited December 17, 2019 by moonman
