Actually  the first case was not in the USA, it was in Germany and it was reported on the 28th of Jan. This case is the first reported in the US, and it isn't really that hard to understand, he may have been infected by his wife before she was quarantined, or he may not have followed the proper procedures after visiting her. Either way the most important thing is they know where and how he was infected so there isn't a loose canon roaming around out there somewhere.

I said, the first case in the US.

To be clear, once you go into Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) from a viral lung infection, doctors begin giving you antibiotics, to help heal the lungs ..... NOT to help with the virus, which is usually decreasing by that point, but the resulting bacteria that are about to finish you off.

Your lungs swell up, and fill with fluid, they can't get rid of the dead cells and tissue as they normally would, and it leads to a secondary infection, due to the bacteria.

The whole point of getting a pneumonia vaccination, is to help stop a possible ARDS in the first place, regardless of how it begins.

This guy got the flu first, which attacked his lungs, then skip to the 1:38 minute mark, where he's treated with antibiotics for the bacteria. - MAYO Clinic

What your not paying attention to is the pneumonia that some people are becoming ill with do to this Virus is ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT, so whether it's becomes Bacterial or not it really doesn't matter. For someone with a strong immune system supportive care is all that is necessary, if you start having issues with your lungs there are mechanical methods that can be used to clear them. The only people who have experienced ARDS are those who have some form of lung disease, or failing immune systems, and even those people can be put on a ventilator and have their lungs suctioned on an as needed basis. Obviously your knowledge of these medical procedures is very poor.

While antibiotic resistance could be a factor in some of the recent deaths, we have no evidence of this at present, and that’s no reason to avoid a pneumonia shot. ARDS doesn’t just happen in antibiotic resistance cases, or did you forget, there were no anabiotic’s in 1918?

I’m saying, talk to your general practitioner ....your argument is why bother, which I think goes to the core of your credibility here.

Yes there certainly evidence that the 2019-nCoV is Antibiotic resistant it been stated by the CDC. Please before you make statements do a little research, and just for your information, I have had the two shot series for the pneumonia vacine, I have also  had vaccines for plague, yellow fever, typhoid fever, malaria, and many other wonderful diseases that you most likely have never heard of. I have had all these vaccines because of my service to the US Government as a contractor, which I did for more than 10 years after I retired from the US Army.

But none of this has anything to do with this discussion, please do some research before you post information like you gave done above.

My job in the military was Tech Escort, it was my responsibility to evaluate Biological labs in the Midle East, along with Chemical and Nuclear devices. Then when I retired from the Military I continued to do the same job as a US Contractor, so it may surprise you but I have a great deal of experience with situations like this outbreak. Take my advise on this if your information isn't coming directly from the CDC or the WHO, it should be disregarded because it is mostly not factual or it is not complete.

But if can't you understand what I am telling you, at least don't post inaccurate information.

now, 11 people are infected in ROK.

one family was all infected, because of Wuhan corona virus

3-chain infection has occurred in Korea.

Korea is also not a safe zone.

still, I'm in rural area to avoid Wuhan virus around Seoul.

I wouldn't worry to much, the number of infections in South Korea are very small. But staying away from large population centers like Seoul is the right thing to do. If for some reason you have to go back to Seoul, all you need to protect yourself is a Virus level Surgical Mask, and wrap around eye protection and surgical gloves. In addition wash your hands frequently with Soap and warm water, and do not touch you face, mouth, eyes, or nose with your hands even if you have an itch.

Take care of yourself and stay safe Peace.

—There are now 9,658 individuals in mainland China (and a global total of 9,776) who have been confirmed to have the new coronavirus, according to the Johns Hopkins virus dashboard.

— There are now 213 deaths linked to the virus.

—The CDC, in conjunction with local and state agencies, is monitoring 165 individuals who could have the infection; 68 of those people tested negative, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases said during a teleconference on Wednesday (Jan. 29)

— The CDC is expanding entry screening to 20 U.S. ports of entry where the CDC already has quarantine stations.

Here is a Great link from John Hopkins Medical Center that is keeping all the CDC and WHO data updated.

“We’re possibly looking at a virus that’s going to be with us for a long time, possibly forever,” - Nature  31 JANUARY 2020

___________

Interesting prediction, I guess we’ll call it “the killer cold?” Also, one of the more curious things that I’ve been seeing and reading is the possibility that the virus is causing permanent cardiac damage in some patients.

I trust this organisation...

First up, we’re getting a sample of the novel coronavirus – catchily known as 2019-nCoV. This will be a sample from the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, who were the first organisation outside of China to grow the re-create the virus in the lab. This sample will be taken to our high-containment facility in Geelong, the Australian Animal Health Laboratory.

Possibly part of the reason this has spread the way it has is because the oppressive state of China threatened doctors with prison if they spread rumors about a new virus.  Why do we deal with these people?  Oh yeah, cheap cell phones

U.S. declares coronavirus a public health emergency and will bar some foreign nationals from entering the countryCBS News 1-31-2020

The new measures come after U.S. health officials issued a federal quarantine order for the 195 Americans evacuated from the epicenter of the outbreak in China. The group of U.S. government workers and private Americans will remain at a military base in Southern California until mid-February, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters Friday.

The government hasn't issued such a quarantine order in over 50 years, Messonnier said. She said the order was issued because of the "unprecedented public health threat" of the outbreak; none of the quarantined Americans have tested positive for the virus.

Wow, they're stuck there until the middle of next month. I'll bet Trump got the big pants when he signed this order. He's been wanting to put certain House Democrats in quarantine for awhile now. Perhaps now he'll get the chance ...

So... you'd rather he took no steps at all?  I wonder how many will scream racism, bigotry and xenophobia about THIS order?

It wasn’t Trump, not his call. It was Alex Azur as secretary of the HHS who made the decision to quarantine people. And no, the people quarantined aren’t notably any high ranking politicians. The things you make up sometimes are just out there.

I was clearly saying this tongue and cheek. The things you assume about members who've been writing on here since 2006.

Total Number of cases worldwide are now close to 12,000 .... but the most interesting cases are those located outside of China. Take for instance the taxi driver in Thailand.

How many people, who don't realize they are infected with this, such as this taxi driver, and are already running around, doing their jobs, not realizing they have this virus?

Perhaps the "angel of the dark room," has indeed .... arrived.

Thailand confirmed a further five cases of Wuhan coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number to 19.
Four out of the five new cases are Chinese citizens from Wuhan. The fifth case is a Thai taxi driver. He is the first Thai citizen infected with the virus who has no record of traveling to China, but was exposed to individuals who had traveled from China. Two of the 19 cases are Thai citizens.

Exactly. Thats a very important precaution and still not known to everyone. Touching the face/nose/mouth/eyes is a kind of just-in-time logistic to take the bad stuff to the gateways.
