Mystery pneumonia virus (COVID-2019) in China

Here is a very important update from the World Health Organization: The WHO is currently looking for those who are starting and spreading Rumors, below is an insert from their website.

Managing the 2019-nCoV ‘infodemic’

The 2019-nCoV outbreak and response has been accompanied by a massive ‘infodemic’ - an over-abundance of information some accurate and some not that makes it hard for people to find trustworthy sources and reliable guidance when they need it.

Due to the high demand for timely and trustworthy information about 2019-nCoV, WHO technical risk communication and social media teams have been working closely to track and respond to myths and rumours. Through its headquarters in Geneva, its six regional offices and its partners, the Organization is working 24 hours a day to identify the most prevalent rumours that can potentially harm the public’s health, such as false prevention measures or cures. These myths are then refuted with evidence-based information. WHO is making public health information and advice on the 2019-nCoV, including myth busters, available on its social media channels (including Weibo, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest) and website

Here is a link to this information. https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports/

i would suggest that certain individuals suppling false information think about what they are doing. These rumors are being viewed as potentially dangerous to public health.

Not trying to single you out Suscience, you are an informative and great poster. But just wanting to compare another deadly virus that is not getting the same coverage.

1200-6100 deaths per year. Influenza, just trying to initiate some perspective.

The likelihood that this Virus is Bio-Engineered isn't at all likely. These new Viruses are just natures way of telling us that we are not always at the top of the food chain, so to speak. These Viral threats have been around since the beginning of mankind, the only difference today is that we live in such close proximity to each other. In the past a Viral infection like this may kill a village or small town and burn itself out simply because there was no one else to infect.

In other situations a Virus like this would kill and spread until it would mutate and become more like a common Flu where it didn't kill, it only made those infected sick. This is how over time the human race built immunity to such Viruses, and the illnesses became seasonal events. Then In the early twentieth century we had the first recorded Pandemics:

1). The first occurred in 1918 and to this day it is unknown why the infection was so uncharacteristic and deadly. The Virus responsible was H1N1 and is was another Virus like the current one that jumped the Avian-Human barrier. It's estimated that 500 million were infected and 50 million died Worldwide.

2)  Then in 1957-1958 another Viral Pandemic occurred. They called this Virus the Asian Flu, and it was another new Viral infection that crossed the Avian-Human barrier. This Virus became known H2N2 and it was pretty unique, because it had 3 separate Avian Genes unlike the more common H2N2 Virus that only had a single Avian Gene. This new Virus killed 1.1 million people Worldwide.

3). Then in 1968 a new Viral Pandemic also an Avian Virus came upon the scene, and it was found in the United States. This Avian Virus became known as H3N2 and it had 2 specific Avian genes, one of which was from the H2N2 Virus from 1957-1958. This Virus killed approximately 1 million people Worldwide before it abated. But this Virus never went away, it mutated and is still a common form of seasonal Flu.

4). Then in 2009  another viral pandemic came along it turned out to be new version of the Avian H1N1 virus and it also first appeared in the United States. This was another completely new Viral  strain that had Genes never seen in animals or humans. This Virus was given the designation Influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 Virus. This Virus ran its course between April 2009 and April 2010, and the CDC estimates that between 151,700 and 575,400 people died Worldwide.

5). Now we have the 2019-nCoV Acute Respriatory Disease that is also technically also at this time what would be called a Pandemic. This Virus us also an Avian Virus, that has been identified as coming from Bats. This Virus was first seen in China between November and December 2019. To date there has been close to 400 reported deaths, with around 12000 infected Worldwide. At this time there is no end to this Virus in sight, however, at this point it is the least serious infection of any of those listed above. The Death toll of this Virus is directly related to individuals with compromised immune systems, or those who have current infections of their lungs in addition to the Virus.

When all of this is considered the chance that this Virus could have been man made is not really possible. Unfortunately these Viruses are naturally occurring and they appear to be getting more frequent, now whether this is due to nature becoming unbalanced by mans hand or not we may never know.

Peace

Apparently China is using talking drones to monitor people‘s behavior all across China, speaking to them through speakers in the drone, telling them to put on their masks or get inside their houses.

I saw one report where people are playing a game of mah-jongg in public and the drone swept in over the top of their heads and told one little boy watching the game, “don’t look at the drone just tell your daddy to go inside the house.”

In another city, State government plans to spray the entire town overnight using drones to spray disinfectant everywhere.

This would seem to indicate the level of desperation that only makes sense if they have totally lost control.

From what I recall about the Spanish flu, it traveled through Europe during WWI, came back across to the U.S. and through much of the rest of the planet and the second wave - after it mutated - was when it became so devastating.  I was in error when I mentioned it beginning as an Avian flu.  It came from swine.  Another interesting factoid about flu... if the same host acquires TWO different strains at the same time, they can mutate into some combo of both of them and become far more deadly. :(

Or it mutates into a less deadly form, allowing for greater infection in a larger population size, as opposed to killing off the hosts.

Viruses think only as far as the next generation, of both themselves, and their hosts.

Where things get complicated, is if this thing jumps back into an animal, and then back to us, that’s when things can get really serious, but I have forgotten exactly why that is.

Hong Kong reported its first death from the coronavirus - NYTimes 2-4-2020

The man who died Tuesday had traveled by train to Wuhan on Jan. 21 and had returned to Hong Kong two days later, the Hong Kong government said in a statement.

The case raised further alarm for the possibility that the disease was transmitted within the man’s household: His mother, who did not travel to Wuhan, later contracted the virus.

Japanese health authorities said around 2,500 passengers and some 1,000 crew members are on board the Diamond Princess, which returned to Yokohama after stops in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Japanese prefectures of Okinawa and Kagoshima. At least seven people on board said they feel ill, though none have been confirmed to have the virus. - Source 2-4-2020

So 7 out of 3500 (=0,2%) "feel ill". Yeah, must be Armageddon somehow.

That was your first mistake...viruses do not think...they react.

It doesn't....jump....

It is....spread....through contact with those infected.

By the way...mutation is not a sequence considered by the virus.  Think of it as a Flow Chart...possibilities of situations, and expected results.

How do viruses jump between species?
Cross-species transmission (CST), also called interspecies transmission, host jump, or spillover, is the ability for a foreign virus, once introduced into an individual of a new host species, to infect that individual and spread throughout a new host population. Source

As for “thinking” only “as far” as the next generation, viral particles are programmed with a language known as RNA, which is a simple set of instructions that tells the organism to reproduce inside a host cell. We can argue if programs are “thoughtful,” but then I would be forced to argue that all life, is as dumb as a box of rocks in early December of 2019, when whispers inside China were only heard by a Communal Party and the “________ Host.
______________
As for this being “Armageddon”
I wouldn’t argue that a virus is equivalent to a battle on the plain ofMegiddo, where men pretend to repeat the fall of certain angels in Heaven, because who would be so arrogant as to recruit men to challenge the owner of a planet that they are graced to live on?
Go ahead and doubt the ownership, and see if those intelligent rocks can hear you in the asteroid belt or the Ort cloud, when they are whistled to, with thoughtless whispers.
Imagining that we have any rights to this dominion can result in far more than viral loads. There are times to be humble, and pray for all life on earth, as temporary caretakers.

Hey Partner, you weren't in error at all the 1918 Pandemic was not Swine Flu it was a Avian Flu. The Virus responsible was the H1N1 Virus.

Here a link to the CDC that talks about that pandemic.

Dude your wasting your breath, Raptor Witness claims to have prophecised this entire outbreak. He has no idea what he is talking about and doesn't care. He us only concerned with spreading rumors, and trying to yank people chains. I already reported him to the WHO, they are looking for people spreading rumors and putting out false information. Pets are being abandoned.

Quote

Thousands of pets trapped in the epicentre of China's deadly coronavirus outbreak are at risk of starving to death, according to animal rescuers and activists.

The warning comes as campaigners claim local governments have called for pet dogs and cats to be culled, due to discredited concerns they can be infected with the illness that began in the Hubei province city of Wuhan.

Wuhan's mayor, Zhou Xianwang, recently told a news conference five million people had left his city ahead of the Chinese New Year.

Based on this figure, one man on the frontline of the rescue effort to save abandoned animals has estimated up to 50,000 pets have been left in Wuhan homes.

The leaders of smaller countries including Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar have chosen to maintain open borders with China, and downplayed or dismissed concerns over the virus’s increasingly global reach. A growing list of countries including Australia, the United States, Russia, Japan, Pakistan and South Korea have barred entry to foreigners who had recently visited Hubei, and in some cases the entire mainland.

https://www.news.com.au/world/asia/its-easy-to-prevent-chinas-developing-neighbours-downplay-coronavirus-concerns/news-story/91244b15fcdca2a8eefbf107275ef720

So, most developed countries have a entry ban to foreigners from Hubei, in the Province of Wuhan and some have extended it to mainland China.  Considering it sounds like the virus can spread during its incubation period (before it fully develops and therefore before it's detectable), how can you protect against travelers that come from China's smaller neighborhood countries who may have picked up the virus from a Chinese tourist visiting their country 24 hours earlier before they flew out to one of the countries who have banned visitors from Hubei?  You can't and while the current ban offers some protection, if these numbers in China keep growing and the spread of the virus widens, there is no way of stopping the disease from spreading across the world, not unless these developed countries place a total ban of entry and exit.  This may prevent the spread but cause an economic disaster.  Either way, unless they find a cure quickly, we're screwed.

Also, China needs to come clear on the numbers because there is a lot of speculation the numbers (of infected and dead) are far higher.

This is interesting, even with the disclaimer.

“A group of Indian scientists have discovered that Wuhan Coronavirus has been engineered with AIDS like insertions. The study concludes that it is unlikely for a virus to have acquired such unique insertions naturally in a short duration of time. Meanwhile, China has started using AIDS drug for Coronavirus treatment.

Note: Authors of “uncanny” 2019-nCoV preprint have voluntarily withdrawn the preprint: “It was not our intention to feed into the conspiracy theories…we appreciate the criticisms… and will get back with a revised version”

Anti Chinese sentiment on the rise.  Expect this to increase ten fold, especially if victims of the virus are not Chinese nationals or from Chinese origin.

If the hosts can shed virus during the initial asymptomatic period, they don't have any idea how many people on that ocean-going petri dish have been infected.  Think Norovirus.

On Tuesday, health officials released details of the deaths so far, saying that two-thirds of them were men. More than 80 percent were over 60 years old, and they typically had pre-existing health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases or diabetes. - New York Times 2-5-2020

_______________________________________________

This is an interesting statistic, which I've read has to do with the number of receptors in the lungs of men vs. women, which the virus can bind to. This curious characteristic makes me a bit more suspicious about the natural origin of the virus, since this would be what we might expect to come out of a biowarfare laboratory.

On the other hand, perhaps the issue with age means that the virus was in the development stage?

Just tossing out the idea, given the selective male vs. female properties.

Coronavirus: Ten passengers on cruise ship test positive for virus

At least 10 people on board a cruise ship docked in the Japanese port of Yokohama have tested positive for coronavirus, health authorities say.

Almost 300 of the 3,700 people on the Diamond Princess have been tested so far. The number of infected could rise.

The checks began after an 80-year-old Hong Kong man who had been on the ship last month fell ill with the virus.

Some 3,600 people on a second cruise ship docked in Hong Kong are also being tested.

Chinese baby born to a Wuhan coronavirus patient is diagnosed with the disease, prompting fears that the killer infection can be transmitted in the womb

A Chinese baby born to a Wuhan coronavirus patient has been diagnosed with the deadly disease 30 hours after being delivered.

Doctors in China are now fearing that the infection could be passed from mothers to their babies in the womb.

The news came after experts claimed that the virus might also be spread by faeces.

Men are statistically more liking to have heart disease or diabetes. Those compromise your immune system.

So the stat makes sense to me.
