Raptor Witness Posted February 9, 2020 #301 Share Posted February 9, 2020 Here’s the bad news ..... Coronavirus in Singapore: Of the 43 cases so far, local cases now exceed imported ones - The Straits Times 2-9-2020 As of Feb 9, six patients have been discharged – five China nationals and one Singaporean, who had been evacuated from Wuhan. But six patients - up from four on Feb 8 - are in critical care. _____________ It’s this percentage that becomes the big problem, because with a rate of severe cases running at around 25%, the healthcare system in any nation can quickly become overwhelmed, to the point that it is totally ineffective. Remember, we only have so many ICU beds, and so many ventilators, and these severe cases are lasting for weeks. We have to ask the question, who would receive treatment in the United States right now, if there was an overwhelming need for ICU beds and ventilators? Normally we expect fair treatment, but I’m not sure that we could expect that if the system became overrun with patients. Do you know, we really haven’t seen a level of desperation that clearly separates rich from poor, however those illusions could become quickly unveiled, in the event of a pandemic. It might not hurt to borrow a chapter from fiction, to surmise the potential inequality.

Grim Reaper 6 Posted February 10, 2020 #303 Share Posted February 10, 2020 10 hours ago, Raptor Witness said: My belief, based upon most expert conclusions, which are made off the record, is that the number is actually 10 times what is being reported, which would put the fatality rate at roughly somewhere between what is being reported and what this guy is saying, or 750 per day. This would include the people that are dying at home in silence, which may also be why we are seeing the Chinese authorities breaking into peoples homes and taking their temperature by force. Why else would they be doing that? If the truth is even half what this guy saying, then the situation is far more grave and serious then we are being told, which is horrible. The sets the stage in the United States, where most people cannot afford to take off work, and where the government has little power to force people to stay at home, for a mass infection. They can declare all the emergencies they want to, but the truth is, people are going to have to care for one another, people will get sick as a result of that, so it’s not going to matter whether they are home or at work, a certain percentage are going to die. A city the size of Little Rock, Arkansas, for example, only has maybe 500 ICU beds, half of which are likely filled right now, for other things, and that’s being very optimistic. The only chance most nations had, at a real quarantine, was to close their airspace, which they have neglected to do. Watch Africa, because as Africa goes, so goes the world. These types of viruses can become several times more lethal, with a simple mutation. The greatest danger, going forward that I see, besides the lack of hospital beds, is people who will not believe that they have this virus, and who will convince themselves that they just have a cold or the flu. This also sets the stage for mass infection, due to simple denial. I would advise that we begin an antibody sharing program, immediately, where survivors donate their blood, and people at high risk, are allowed to received immunity from the survivors, based upon blood type. I know we do this with other severe illnesses, such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, because I had a close friend of my family, who had survived that illness, and who was a blood donor for his entire life. He saved many lives as a result of his close call with that particular disease. I say we weaponize the survivors, and make them heroes, which I’m sure many would be glad to be. Even if this virus is only 2% fatal, it could provide a roadmap for the future, when a far higher fatality rate would require a stronger response. I will admit that I have no idea how much blood it would take to immunize a second person, but perhaps we can multiply those antibodies, in vitro, and use those. This is most likely the most foolish post I have ever seen anywhere at any time on any forum. This individual is very very delusional, he has no concept of how medical procedures work, he has no concept of how Viral infections spread, and he has no idea how his uneducated opinions can cause harm. Please do not take anything he is saying as truth, he has alterior motives for posting to these threads and none of them are good. He enjoys grandstanding and spreading rumors that are not based upon medical facts. In this post he states that if the infection hits Africa that it's the end, well that isn't accurate. This Virus acts in the same manner that the Common Cold does, and its period of maximum spread is also during the same months we see the return and end of Flu and Cold season. The common cold is a Coronavirus, currently there are 4 none Coronaviruses that start coming around every fall season. In the worst cases sinario if this Viral infection isn't stopped it will become the 5th Coronavirus that returns as the common cold. Now this may not even happen, these type of Viruses are controlled by weather conditions. When the temperature begins to chang in April or May these Viruses lose the ability to spread and infections will begin to decrease. SARS and MERS were both considered very dangerous when they were new Viruses. The SARS outbreak began in 2002 and ended in 2003 never to,be seen again. The MERS outbreak began in 2014 and ended in approximately 2015, since that time there has been some new occurrences of this Virus, but they have been small and have only occurred in the Middle East where the Virus originated. All three of these Viruses are nearly identical according to their DNA, and all three are also strains of the Coronavirus that is carried by Bats, no other other Mammal carries a similar strain of these Viruses according to DNA typeing. I am going to include a few links from reputable sources that back up my comments here. If you are concerned about this current situation and you would like more information I have a large number of links at my disposal that I would be happy to share which will dispel the Rumors the Raptor Witness is spreading. Raptor Witness Posted February 10, 2020 #304 Share Posted February 10, 2020 The burning bodies in China, are suspected of showing up on satellite SO2 emission imagery. Analysts say that this curious pollutant signature is new for the Wuhan area, and is not suspected to be due to manufacturing or a chemical release or spill. If true, they are likely lying about the number of dead, given the amount of sulphur the human body is known to contain. Source My own thoughts on this are, let’s wait and figure out for sure that’s what this is. If these emissions are the bodies, then we should be able to roughly calculate the number they are burning, just based on this S02 signature.

Raptor Witness Posted February 10, 2020 #307 Share Posted February 10, 2020 The Singapore authorities seem more lackadaisical about this virus than the Chinese. They have decided that they are not locking down or quarantining areas, despite the fact that the virus is likely circulating in their population; which, when you think about it, would be very difficult in Singapore. It’s essentially, just one big city of 5.6 million people crammed into a city state of 289 square miles or 725 kilometers. So if only 2% perish, of say only half their population, this equals 56,000 old and sick people, who are no longer a drain on the public’s resources? I pose this as a question mark, for good reason. The problem with this calculation, is the sudden need for ICU beds, and we can roughly calculate that number, also, from the following data. Quote The total number of hospital beds in Singapore was estimated to be 12,505 in 2014. Source The number of ICU beds with ventilators could be estimated at roughly 10% of the total number of hospital beds, which we could surmise that only half would be available for this crisis. so that’s roughly 600 available ventilators for a population of 5.6 million, of which tens thousands could be in need. So in my view, the government in Singapore has likely, simply resigned themselves to the efficacy of losing roughly 1-2% of their population, rather than closing their air space, and locking down the spread of this virus. Not to mention that a simple mutation could make it far more lethal and could kill upwards of 10%, as we saw with SARS. The fact that air travel is continuing in and out of Singapore just adds to the likelihood that this virus is going to spread worldwide. Singapore is arguably the richest, most western country in Asia, with many western expatriates living there. They seem overconfident that this will not be a total disaster for them and their economy. Equally disastrous, is the United States failing to close its airspace to all international travel. It’s starting to look like a game show that I remember well, and which I suspect still continues. aztek Posted February 10, 2020 #308 Share Posted February 10, 2020 Chinese cities try to flush out coronavirus patients by stopping cough medicine sales China is turning to potentially risky measures to track down more patients of a coronavirus outbreak that has killed at least 900 people. +susieice Posted February 11, 2020 #314 Share Posted February 11, 2020 The virus has spread in a shopping center in Tianjin, about 70 miles south of Beijing. Thousands are under emergency measures with the town sealed off. Dozens more have been quarantined at a housing complex in Hong Kong. Authorities there haven't ruled out airborne transmission and are saying that determining what happened there is of "great importance". The virus seems to be spreading from one resident to another in the complex. It's residents are mostly over the age of 60 yrs. A senior Chinese official expressed concern the virus may spread in three populous provinces as migrant workers return after the Lunar New Year break. One more American has been diagnosed in San Diego. The patient had been previously discharged from isolation after testing negative. The patient was one of 167 passengers on a State Dept flight out of China. This takes the number of US cases to 13. The 7th in California. The Holland American cruise ship, Westerdam, has been refused entry to five different countries.Thailand had at first said the ship could dock in Bangkok, but has now refused permission. No one on the Westerdam has come down with the virus according to Holland American officials. The ship is not in quarantine and they say they have no reason to believe there are any cases of the virus on board. The ship is carrying 1445 passengers and 802 crew. A country may be more willing to accept the ship after it has floated for the 14 day isolation period. The Princess Diamond, docked in Yokohama, Japan, has reported another 65 cases. That raises the total number on the ship to 135. At least 20 are from the US. Two health officials from Hubei have been dismissed. The Party Secretary and the Mayor in Wuhan have offered to resign but remain in office. Until now, only two others have been dismissed. Two officials from Huajiahe were released after a disabled teenager died when his father, his sole caretaker, was put into quarantine. Royal Caribbean had been banning people with Chinese passports from boarding their ships.
