Illegal Immigrant Accused of Killing Woman, 92, in Fatal Sex Attack Previously
Released Under Sanctuary Policy

Quote

U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) announced it had lodged a detainer for an illegal immigrant from Guyana who was arrested by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and charged with murdering and sexually assaulting a 92-year-old woman from Queens. The illegal immigrant, Reeaz Khan, 21, was previously arrested in November after allegedly attacking his own father with a broken coffee mug. Khan was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. ICE lodged a detainer following Khan's arrest back in November, but sanctuary laws in New York City appear to have caused the criminal's release back into the community. Now, Khan faces new charges, including murder and sexual abuse against a person incapable of consent.

Authorities blame de Blasio after illegal immigrant charged for rape and murder of woman, 92

Quote

Federal officials are pointing the finger at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio after an illegal immigrant allegedly killed a 92-year-old Queens woman.

Reeaz Khan, a 21-year-old illegal immigrant from Guyana, is charged with two counts each of second-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse.

“It is made clear that New York City’s stance against honoring detainers is dangerously flawed,” said Thomas Decker, the ICE New York field office director of enforcement and removal operations. “It was a deadly choice to release a man on an active ICE detainer back onto the streets after his first arrest included assault and weapon charges, and he now faces new charges, including murder. New York City’s sanctuary policies continue to threaten the safety of all residents of the five boroughs, as they repeatedly protect criminal aliens who show little regard for the laws of this nation.”

Brooklyn defendant Nathan Panchoo, a look of relief on his face, patted his lawyer on the back and left the courtroom a free man — despite being accused of a violent crime.

Panchoo was sprung without bail Thursday under the state’s controversial new judicial reforms after his arraignment for the alleged theft of $220 cash from a woman punched in the face and beaten with a broken stick during a vicious New Year’s Eve robbery.

Panchoo, due back in court March 5, wasn’t alone in celebrating his good legal fortune. Fellow defendant Frantz Fortune, charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault, menacing and harassment in an unrelated case, was also freed without bail after a Brooklyn hearing.
