I'm so glad the US has finally developed rocket-repelling tweets.

It must be a great comfort to those on the receiving end of the idiot in chief's decisions.

Me too!  It is so refreshing to have a President that has that power!

However; it is most certainly not of great comfort and should be fairly obvious that the Iranian people are not all that and a bag of chips over the Idiot in Chief that shot down a Ukrainian Airliner full of his own citizens at his own airport.

Thanks for your service, unlike others I truely appreaciate your sacrifices. I am retired military, 23 years US Army, my MOS was Tech Escort. I have been to Iraq on Number of occasions, however, I was never at Al Balad. My comments were based upon the following article, obviously it was not correct. Sorry about the confusion, and again thanks for Service.

My intent was not to "slam you", I simply was trying to correct the statement (source)... I only did one tour in Iraq (volunteered for another but wasn't selected - MOS was over strength)...Between Active Duty and Reserves I served 34 years (10 active the rest Reserve) mostly Signal Corps - but also Infantry, Ordnance (Pershing Missile) and Intel (The old Army Security Agency) - Heck I was even an Order OF Battle Specialist at one point - that was fun! ... Not familiar with Tech Escort, but the Army currently has about 190 MOS's so it's easy to be unfamiliar with some of them....

Thank you for your service also...

I get the impression that Shia militia's firing mortars, rockets, and Aubergines at Iraqi military bases is a fairly common occurrence in Iraq ? If so, this may have NOTHING to do with recent events, and have zero strategic importance. It's just background noise.

Let's hope their not, but it still seems that this attack by Iran or not is most like in response to the current situation in the region. It could also be in response to the US staying in Iraq after they were asked to leave, by the Iraqi Government.

Time will tell as the events unfold.

peace.

Just a minor correction, @Manwon Lender, but I don't believe that the Iraqi government has asked US troops to leave ? Their parliament has asked the government to ask the foreign troops to leave, but the government has not yet done so ? (possibly because - if it did so - most of the foreign troops - namely the Iranian militias - would ignore them).

Honestly your can paraphrase it however you choose to, but my comments stand.

I didn't feel like you slammed me at all,  not surprised you have never heard of my MOS. It is very specialised and there are not a lot of us who served in those positions. Anyway, I glad you made it home ok, I am also done working as a government contractor, so I am finally retired for good.

That's two posts in a row where you've talked sense now. Now log off. You know three in a row is the first sign of the end times. And we can't give and then the satisfaction

Well you can always find something else to fill your time. When I retired from the Army in 2003, I started working as a Government contractor, for me the pay was great. I continued doing that on and off until last year, I turned 60 in September so after all I had been through I figured it was time to stop putting myself in the line of fire. When I retired from the Army, I also received 100% disability from the VA. So with my time as a contractor, My Military retirement, and the disability from the VA, I can retire comfortably.

Peace
