Massive explosion rocks NW Houston

Recommended Posts

Still Waters

A massive explosion rocked a northwest Houston neighborhood and the blast was felt all across the region Friday morning.

It happened around 4:25 a.m. and originated in the 4500 block of Gessner Rd.

It's not clear what exactly happened but fire and a large debris pile can be seen in the area between Gessner and Steffani Lane in the Westbranch neighborhood.

Residents have reported broken windows and doors from the blast and at least one person was observed with injuries.

Saw it on the news tonight. There were 2 killed and a lot of damage. The news report said at least 180 homes. Some homes were knocked off their foundations and window frames bent. It blew with a lot of force. They said it was a miracle more people weren't killed. The two who died are thought to be employees at the factory. A lot of links within the article.

Here's a good link from another Houston TV station with pictures and videos. You may need to scroll down a bit before you start to see them.
