"The U.S. military is preparing to report a more than 50% jump in cases of traumatic brain injury stemming from Iran’s missile attack on a base in Iraq last month, U.S. officials told Reuters on Monday.

"The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of an announcement, said there were over 100 cases of TBI, up from the 64 previously reported last month."

Dont feel like making a new thread and the first half is probably related.

Rockets were fired at the Kirkuk base, seems at least 2 katyusha style rockets were fired with no reported casualties or damage.  Currently intense American air activity over Kirkuk.

Also while unrelated but still worth mentioning the USS Normandy stopped a dhow in the Arabian sea and upon boarding it found a large cache of Iranian weapons heading for the Houthis.  The weapons included thermal imaging, 150 Iranian made anti-tank missiles, and 3 Iranian made anti-air missiles.

But, you know, assassinating Soleimani made everyone so much safer...

Why do you assume this is related?

SMGs have been firing rockets at US interests pretty regularly in Iraq since at least late 2018. This isn't news.

Iraq and the United States have agreed on the withdrawal of all remaining US and coalition combat troops deployed to fight ISIL (ISIS) in the Middle Eastern country – but they did not provide a timeline and said the foreign forces would still provide training to the Iraqi army.

After a first “strategic dialogue” under President Joe Biden’s administration, the two countries said in a joint statement on Wednesday that the Iraqi military had made substantial improvements.

A drone dropped explosives near U.S. forces stationed at Erbil airport in northern Iraq late on Wednesday, Kurdish officials said, with no immediate reports of casualties.

It was the first known attack carried out by an unmanned aerial drone against U.S. forces in Erbil, amid a steady stream of rocket attacks on bases hosting U.S. forces and the embassy in Baghdad that Washington blames on Iran-backed militias.
