Is it safe to open envelopes?  Imagine everybody licking and sealing envelopes and the receiver ends up getting a nasty surprise.  My first thought was Dame Vera Lynn (103 this month) and the amount of Birthday fan mail she will receive.

coronavirus cases in the UK has hit 115, the Department of Health has confirmed.

The news marks the first time the number of cases has hit triple figures as the illness continues to sweep across the country.

In total, 17,968 people across the UK have been tested for the virus.

The virus is NOT sweeping across the country - most of those who have had it (some now being clear, of course - 115 is the total that have ever had it, not how many are currently affected) got it whilst abroad!

"The first death from coronavirus in the UK has been announced.

"One patient with underlying health conditions has died after testing positive for coronavirus - which it is believed was contracted in the UK.

"The Royal Berkshire NHS Trust said the deceased was an elderly patient."

2 ppints; the patient "died after testing positive" does not necessarily mean it was the virus that was the cause of death (though probably it was, at least, a contributory complication) and why are we not being told how many people who tested positive have since fully recovered? Or, indeed, how many are even in hospital atm?

They dont want to start a panic.

MSM are already whipping it up.

That's the point: they are whipping up a panic by not telling us that, actually, most people are fine ....

The elderly woman who died today was apparently only diagnosed yesterday, and had been in and out of hospital due to another condition.  Did it even kill her?

There is nothing you can do. Washing your hands and self isolation is not going to achieve anything. It's just the advice the Govt gives as the alternative is for the Govt to say 'nothing you can do' akin to the cold War. If the balloon went up. You were to close your windows. Shut the curtains. Put your big coat on and fasten your top button. And listen to the radio.

Found out today a women in work was sent home yesterday as her husband tested positive. And a friend of a friends school age kid has the virus They've been in school for the last two weeks in a class of 24 kids. And a playground of 100 plus.

This virus will just run its course. 98% plus survival rate. 98% of those who survive will have developed some natural immunity.

well exactly, the sensible thing would be to say "well, it's just one of those things". The Health Authorities, though, would be very reluctant to do that as this is a glorious opportunity for them to interfere, and of course there's nothing that authorities of all kinds like better.

whilst it appears to be tracking at 2% fatality rate I would argue its actually much much lower.

ie deaths from the virus will be recorded as a stat and there are unlikely any deaths from the Virus that are missed as cause of death.

so...the number of people infected is actually more than likely much much higher than official figures...people catch it, dont realise they have it and they get rid of it. These figures are NOT recorded as cases, so as an example if stats say 100 people have it and 2 deaths = 2% where as in reality it could be 200 infected - 100 are recorded (known) but still 2 deaths so the 2% is now 1%.....

I have to say I was amazed by the story broken by the BBC and their business editor Simon Jack today. Mr Jack decided to try and verify the comments made by Matt Hancock on TV last night suggesting  "government is working with the supermarkets to make sure that, if people are self-isolating, then we will be able to get the food and supplies that they need."

The BBC have suggested this is essentially lies and there has been no arrangements made. Even if this is the case I do not see why the BBC should think it is helpful, given the circumstances, to contradict the government.

The BBC must think their bias war against the Government takes president over maintaining some semblance of control in the midst of a UK Flu pandemic.

So well done BBC for publishing this important information and holding ministers to account.  Maybe the BBC would like its licence fee to be diverted to pay for food deliveries? ;)

The corona virus doesnt like warm temperatures so the strategy is to delay its spread until Spring/Summer when it will naturally die out.

In the meantime keep yourselves and your homes warm.

Today Lufthansa announced to cancel 50% of its flight capacities within the next weeks.

From an economical point of view, 2020 will be a horror.

And it'll go on the longer people continue to react hysterically. There really ought to be a reckoning with the media and these "health officials" and their role in the spreading of panic.
