it could seriously damage not just movie theater business , but entire film making industry as well.

Good.   I certainly am tired of all the super hero movies so I can use a break.

Must suggestions are a death rate of about 2% generally - higher the older one gets.

some countries are suggesting potential infection levels eg Germany 70%

using that for the UK roughly

65m x 70% = 45.5m x 2% = 910k.

All calculations courtesy of Alexa (just in case they are wrong)

Therefore Government concern and action would seem very appropriate.

Though personally I believe infection levels of 70% seem a little on the high side - but then again what do I know.

Stopping the spread, given the lack of a vaccine would seem to be an appropriate action.

i think the death rate is much lower than 2%.

we are able to find all deaths related to the virus but have no idea on number of infected.....so the number of infected could be much much higher, there fore lowering the 2% mortality rate significantly.....

ie if there are 10x more people infected than we know about then  that 2% become 0.2% ...so that 910k becomes 91k....

I personally think the infected number is huge...but unless we are to sample say 30 million people we will never know the true conversion

ps I am just glad my PC has good anti virus software

Italians using pandemic as excuse for ‘long siesta’, says Dr

"Embarrassing Bodies star Dr Christian Jessen has said Italian people are using the coronavirus outbreak as an excuse to have a “long siesta”, while acknowledging his comments are “a little bit racist”."

I'm drawing up a list of absurdly melodramatic or plain "how is anyone who is capable of thinking for themselves possibly take them seriously?" things that Government or health experts have said. So far some prize ones are:

  • Bo Johnson and "Sadly, many of us will have to face losing loved ones before their time";
  • Jeremy C. Hunt's "We have four weeks to fight the Virus, or we will end up like Italy";
  • and "health experts" who assured us that "the number of cases may be much higher than we think., It could be 5,000 , or 10,000, search me, I'm just plucking random large numbers out of the air just to alarm everybody".

Just remember, we pay these idiots.

32,771 tested.

798 positive Covid-19

10 dead.

Media have played a massive part in over playing this whole thing and the Govt who live through the Media have obliged, instead of just stating the obvious, There is very little that can be done.

Has anyone who's healthy died from this Virus? All the cases are people who where already in poor health to begin with.

Obviously the figure of 590 people with coronavirus assumes that once you get it you have it for life and no-one ever recovers ;)

Some see, and understand — what’s going on — but many don’t.  And no matter how much one’s tries to calm...they still remain Hysterical.

Same old — same old — same old “terrorism”— and it’s not coming from Muslims.

So tired of it all.....

I don't even think it is being 'over played' anymore.  In fact, it may be the case that it is actually being 'under played' to prevent a world wide panic.

Consider this:  In my family...if everyone contracted the disease...who would die?  My mother, probably both of my sisters, probably both of their husbands, maybe my brother, two of my aunts, both of my wife's sisters, probably my wife.  OMG...that is everyone but me!

How do you over play something like that?  This does actually have the potential for wiping out the better part of an entire generation or two.  It's mind boggling.  It isn't just media hype.

And then again...at some point the realization that there is an actual Global Crisis begins to sink in.  You haven't even seen hysteria.

Just wait until the masses realize that what they really need to stock up on is....    food    .....     wait for it....coming soon to a supermarket and deli near you!

No doubt Joc,no doubt bud...

At first the toilet paper disappeared, past day or 2 it been massive run for gas,a guy i know bought up a lotta gold recently...

Why these people didn't make massive runs on canned foods, water purification tablets/systems,or other "do it yourself" supplies just shows the state of mind our civilization has fallen too...

We can't really think outside the box anymore, and do things for ourselves...gonna need/demand government planes to airdrop essential supplies, because society as a whole has lost its common sense...

I've noticed something similar in all the corona threads. You can't really discuss prepping without politics always coming into play, or someone is fear monger. It's like a blame game and so few want to be responsible for themselves. At this point in time we have to look out for ourselves and those close to us.

Yes, From the created “terrorism” which wears a different coat this time from the last — clever schmucks, I’ll give them that — and the subsequent created panic....not from the “disease” itself.

But it is very unlikely that there will be mass deaths — have you ever experienced the stench from the rotting of a human flesh suit two blocks away?  I can assure you — The Powers want no part of this “messiness” — I.e.   NYC.

9/11 killed 3,300 + — the subsequent effects killed millions — All by the designers of terror.

3/11?

I've been out 7 times escorting old folks while they stock up. So far the only thing I bought in all 7 trips was a bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch, a bag of corn chips, a jar of peanut butter, a 4 pack of drumsticks and a can of kippers. ...

I’ve been stocking up on citrus juices as I do every season — as ‘Tis the season as they are RIPE —   Lime and lemon juice. I freeze the juice in ice trays and use the throughout the year.  And a bargain — three for a buck. Most lemons and limes that one buys at the market “off season” produce very little juice — not ripe.

From Nine ripe limes (only five in image)   — 2 1/12 cups of juice.

This is what  ripe limes look like— smooth skin and a bit yellow...

And i'd almost 100% guarantee you won't/wouldn't expect big daddy government to lend ya a helping hand to wipe your own ass with government supplied toilet paper either

I get ya "**** Trump" lol,but s*** like this for some portions of the populations, but many MANY more families as a whole can't rest their future faits on 'ol "O'biden",crazy Nancy,or the far left winger dream ticket just for "ABT"..."O'biden/Hillary" to make this non-Trump origin virus go away...

Hell i held my nose and voted Trump the last time because i couldn't stand the idea of Hillary's over quarter century, power hungry ass finally getting her dream...That really coulda been a scary ass reality!

This time around,we get Trump vs Biden...i might just return to my "roots"...

Anyone know if Gary Johnson's in the race?...lol
