A delivery driver who was sacked for refusing to wear a face mask inside his cab during the pandemic was dismissed fairly, a judge has ruled.

Deimantas Kubilius, who was based at Kent Foods’ Basildon site, was dismissed following the incident in May last year.

He has now lost a subsequent legal battle against the dismissal.

I guess that's fair enough. If you have a mask on, any covid particles you cough or sneeze out are trapped within it. Without the mask there is still the possibility of the driver spreading covid onto, say, the steering wheel, then onto his hands and then once out of the cab he could be spreading it anywhere.

First dose, not vaccinated.

Don't get me wrong, it's great but we wouldn't want anyone thinking they're perfectly safe after just one dose.

The former publican and neighbour of Matt Hancock who secured lucrative work producing millions of vials for NHS Covid tests is under investigation by the UK’s medical regulator, the Guardian can reveal.

Alex Bourne, who used to run the c*** Inn near the health secretary’s old constituency home in Thurlow, won about £30m of work producing the test tubes despite having no prior experience in the medical devices industry.

Covid vaccines - 'spectacular' impact on serious illness

The first results of the UK vaccination programme suggests it is having a "spectacular" impact on preventing serious illness.

Research led by Public Health Scotland found at four weeks after the first dose, hospital admissions were reduced by 85% and 94% for the Pfizer and AstraZeneca jabs respectively.

It is the first sign of the real world impact of vaccination in the UK.

Figures for England are expected to be released later.

Among the over 80s, there was an overall 81% reduction in the numbers admitted to hospital.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56153600

The British Government right to go down the single jab route with a 9 to 11 week gap.

What on earth where the French and Germans going on about very dangerous misinformation.

Travel firms say there has been a surge in overseas holiday bookings following the Prime Minister's announcement of the road map out of lockdown.

Despite question marks over the return of international travel, the UK's biggest holiday operator, Tui, said bookings jumped 500% overnight.

The government said a decision on easing international travel would not happen until mid-May at the earliest.

But Tui said its bookings for July-onwards had soared.

BBC report

The number of people dying weekly in England and Wales has dropped by almost 2,000, provisional figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

Data revealed by the ONS shows 15,354 people died across the two nations in the week ending 12 February.

This was 1,838 fewer deaths than the previous week - but still, 3,429 (28%) higher than the five-year average for that week.

Govt done outstanding job, when govt moves so quick mistakes will happen. lets not forget the govt dont run the NHS, well paid managers do, who went missing in action. the Logistics fell on its ****, and the military had to step in. as for PPE, it turned out a lot of PPE was being hoarded by NHS trusts. a simple mistake as Hospitals moved to enure they had enough but in the process denying others the chance to restock.

A fall in the number of Britons being vaccinated against COVID-19 each day is down to "supply fluctuations", England's deputy chief medical officer has told Sky News.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam said it "will take a few months" before vaccine manufacturers are able to produce doses in a "steady routine", adding that "global supply restraints" have also hampered the UK's vaccine rollout.
