Coronavirus: Man who spat at police jailed for 12 months

"A man who spat at two police officers while claiming to have coronavirus symptoms has been jailed for 12 months.

Paul Leivers, from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker."

I bet he's not feeling too clever with himself right now :tu:

What would your strategy be?

You do now. You know of me.

If you're not willing to accept that, probably best just shut up about things you are clueless about.

The only safe alternative is to drive to a rural location where there are far fewer people there (just like the people in the video).  I commend them.

If the local cops bust me for walking deserted county roads AT NIGHT, they're going to have to support it in court.  This isn't a martial law situation.  There's nothing wrong with people getting out and walking in remote areas with few to no other people around.  Bottle people up for months like THAT and they'll get a real display of law breaking.

You have the symptoms yourself? :(

I'm guessing you can't get tested, with how limited they are at the minute?

No, but a close friend does. Festina was claiming they didn't know anyone who knows anyone who has it.

Just as a side note we have at-least two members at UM who have had symptoms and been quite unwell. It was the reason for the are you ok, thread.
We 100% will lose members to the virus and we would like to be able to keep track of our community because we care.

Ah, good. Well, good for you, not for your friend obviously :(

Hopefully they will get through this okay, as the reports say the majority should.

Total number of fatalities is higher as new statistics count cases outside hospitals.

The discrepancy between the official figures is because the ONS data include deaths that occurred outside hospitals, including in homes and care homes, which take at least five days to be officially registered.

An ONS spokesperson said the figures are “based on mentions of Covid-19 on death certificates. It includes suspected cases of Covid-19 where someone has not been tested positive for Covid-19.”

Prior to the release of the ONS figures, the only death rate figures available have been the daily count from UK hospitals of patients who have tested positive.

I would say this headline is scare mongering by the Independent.

The advice for a power cut is just common sense and useful for local outages. The news item by the 'Indy' implies that we shall definitely see wide ranging power cuts.

This is irresponsible journalism :td:

We'll have to wait and see, though I do seem to remember that when AIDs was first discovered back in the 70s we were told by the experts that within 10 years everybody would know somebody that had died of it.... er no.

It turns out

  • 14,383 are at home in self isolation.
