More than 2.5 million vulnerable people in England will be offered free Vitamin D supplements this winter.

The vitamin, which helps to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy, will be delivered to people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, and care homes.

Vitamin D can be absorbed through the skin when exposed to sunlight - but the elderly and those with dark skin need topping up.

20 minutes of common sense in a talkRADIO interview with Richard Madeley....
saying what more and more people are thinking as the government authoritarian insanity continues -

video description..

Lockdown sceptic and broadcaster Richard Madeley says Boris Johnson is talking to people in the nation "as if they were a class of rather dim 8-year-olds." He accused the government of "losing the plot" over their handling of the coronavirus restrictions this Christmas, "there's no point in telling people to do something when you know full well that they're just going to ignore you or laugh at you." Mr Madeley thought restrictions coming into force on the 2nd of December meant "this is a national pretend lockdown."

The UK’s total Covid death toll has passed 75,000, according to a tally of all fatalities that mention the disease on death certificates.

The grim milestone comes just over a month after the UK surpassed 60,000 deaths in late October, showing how the Covid death toll accelerated since September, having slowed during the summer.

The figure is higher than the government’s Covid death toll of 59,051. The latter figure only covers people who have died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.

EU criticises 'hasty' UK approval of COVID-19 vaccine

Reuters

Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious disease expert, has said that the UK was not as rigorous as the US in its Covid-19 vaccine approval process.

"The UK did not do it as carefully," he told Fox News. "If you go quickly and you do it superficially, people are not going to want to get vaccinated."

COVID impact forcing Britons to food banks

British food banks are seeing more families needing their support as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic forces struggling people to seek help, charities and volunteers say.

Lockdowns and other measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus have forced businesses to close or lay off staff. The rise in those out of work has resulted in more people turning to food banks, which provide emergency food supplies to families in need.

Five people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the deaths of 20 residents with Covid-19 at a care home on the Isle of Man.

An independent probe into Abbotswood Nursing Home in Ballasalla was halted in June when police were brought in.

In a letter to residents' relatives seen exclusively by the BBC, the Isle of Man Constabulary said it had quizzed five people about suspected "criminal and/or health and safety offences".

My parents were contacted this morning and asked if they wanted covid jab, they are now on the list for a home visit but no time for visit given as yet. Medics have decided to take over the local show ground as a walk in vaccination center for the town.

16,578 new cases and 533 new deaths

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/

People with a history of significant allergic reactions should not have the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid jab, regulators say.

It came after two NHS workers had allergic reactions on Tuesday.

The advice applies to those who have had reactions to medicines, food or vaccines, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said.

The two people had a reaction shortly after having the new jab, had treatment and are both fine now.

They are understood to have had an anaphylactoid reaction, which tends to involve a skin rash, breathlessness and sometimes a drop in blood pressure. This is not the same as anaphylaxis which can be fatal.

We're seeing this too now Eldorado. Our news said both were healthcare workers and they are alright now. That's good to know. They were able to treat the reaction.

The FDA is expected to approve the vaccine tomorrow or Friday. A large shipment was sent to Philadelphia today. They plan to start vaccinating next week, as soon as the approval goes through. We in Pennsylvania also just found out that our Governor has tested positive for Covid. He says he took all the CDC precautions, but still caught it. He and his wife, who just got tested, are quarantining at home.

Healthcare will get the vaccines first. We should know just how many have allergic reactions before the rest of us begin to take it. This article says they will investigate what caused the reaction. There are no eggs or preservatives in the shots. They said if you've had reactions to previous vaccines, you should wait and not take the shot until they see exactly what happened. There had been no issues in the trials. 20000 people got the two shots.

Soooo ...... the testers of this much-trumpeted vaccine, that has (allegedly!) been tested so well, properly and in accordance with acknowledged good testing practice, failed to discover that the vaccine could have a life-threatening effect on those who are known to have severe allergies! These people would, presumably, have died if the correct antidote was not close to hand. And this was on the first day of vaccinating, so only low numbers involved. You have to ask yourself what other risks have been missed/not taken into account during this 'extensive' and 'thorough' testing.

ABC News just said the two who had the reaction had serious allergies and carried epipens with them. These two were healthcare workers and I don't see any reports saying how many people in the UK have been given the shot. TV news said thousands have been innoculated.  I just see the UK has 800,000 doses, which is enough to vaccinate 400,000 people. It's a two shot series. They also said that Canada has cleared the vaccine. Next week, Canada will receive 249,000 initial doses and will likely start immunizing by the end of the week. The 20,000 people in the test were all ok with the shot. The US will start vaccinating next week as the FDA is expected to approve it tomorrow with the warning that anyone with serious allergies should not take the shot. We'll need to see how many have reactions to it and what they find caused the reactions. It will be a while before the general public is given the vaccine.
