Coronavirus cases confirmed in the UK

Cases are rising but deaths are low.  When put into context with other medical issues, I think Covid concern is rapidly fading as more pressing matters take greater importance in the health sector (as they were before 2020).

Bozo & Co are justifying the scrapping of restrictions by saying:  "Vaccination has broken the link between Covid and hospital admissions."

Really?  So, it's a coincidence that the people dying of Covid, in the ICU at our local hospital, live in nearby areas with high case-rates?

Also.....

Have they given any thought to the people infected (possibly with only mild symptoms) who will go on to have months or years of Long Covid?

Are they areas where vaccination take-up is low?

I think this is going to be the real problem with covid. We live with flu and yes, it can take weeks/months to fully recover from it but it mainly consists of tiredness and lack of energy. Long covid seems to have a whole raft of random symptoms, some of them quite severe.

They are areas with a lot of student accommodation, busy shops, and socializing. I don't think vaccine stats would be accurate or helpful.

Yesterday, the link between Covid and hospital admissions was "broken".

Today, it is "severely weakened". (Sajid Javid in his Commons statement this afternoon)

This is what happens when you put a clueless BS'ing opportunistic narcissist into №10.

Is this the Delta variant?

Mostly, yes.

It's 51 to 67 percent more transmissible.

It's madness!  I don't quite believe what I heard from Javid and Johnson today, and Zahawi yesterday.

You can't repeal a law, then tell everyone to obey it!

Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed that Scotland will move to Level 0 on 19th July.

"Modifications to the original plan include: Hospitality venues to close at midnight, 1m distance will be required between groups outdoors and businesses will be asked to support home working."

The Scottish government is hoping to lift the remaining legal restriction on 9 August

So should full removal of remaining legal restrictions be called level  -1

Answers on a post card to Nicola. Scottish Parliament.

Is there a way of knowing what the mask wearing observance level is at the moment? do the government know?

Its probably not 100%. Is this what is helping to drive the current surge in cases ?

This is not news.

We know that Ear Loop Masks don't protect the wearer like a respirator with a filter system would, but they are very good at preventing you infecting nearby people and surfaces.

They do, because you can't breathe and spit into the air, towards people, or onto surfaces.
