Somalia has declared the outbreak a national emergency. Across the region, it has the potential “to be the most devastating plague of locusts in any of our living memories if we don't reduce the problem faster than we're doing at the moment,” U.N. humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock said.

So the Abrahamic God quite literally caused it.

Hate it for the Somalians.  If they go into another extended famine, the U.S. has been there and done that.  Time for the vaunted EU to step and carry the load.

Its really sad that religious fanatics are going to hamper the fight against pests that ravage large areas.
