What will the next Trump crime be?

Next month the Supreme Court will hear the case seeking to obtain Trump's tax returns.  Trump has fought vigorously against this from the word "Go," but has lost every single hearing so far.  He will probably lose in the Supreme Court, too.

Obama never had to give up his college records or even his birth certificate.  There is no precedence to have Trump’s taxes released.

He is seeking desperately to block this.

He’s having fun with it.

If he loses, which he probably will, he will then defy the Supreme Court and the Constitution.

No, he will defy the Progs.  He’ll go through the proper procedures to appeal.  How much do you want to bet that if he wins, the Progs will start calling for the resignation of all the Court Justices that voted for Trump?  And start calling for packing the Court.  Destroy the Presidency and the Court and then try to hang on to Congress if they can.  Something like that swings both ways.

So what happens if he does?

He’ll push it as far as he can.  But there’s nothing in his taxes anyway.  If there was, it would have been leaked already.  Do you really think that anybody cares about being found out anymore?  The bureaucracy is a porous sieve.

How do we bring him to heel?

The more important question is how to bring the Progs to heel?  I think Trump has that well in hand.

Does the Court order him arrested and held for contempt?

You are in a fantasy world.  He’ll resist till the bitter end, then they’ll get released and the Progs will find nothing there.  They will lose their minds.  And Trump will be smiling ear-to-ear giving them the biggest finger in history.  Of course, the main concern is to hope that there is no 3rd party PKI that the Progs could use to target others to ruin them.  If it goes that far, Trump will bring down the law on their heads!  This will ruin Socialism in this country for a long time to come.

Could this evoke another impeachment trial?

Of course, it could.  They have created so many choices, it may be difficult to choose.

If I were making the decision, I would already have copies of Trump's tax returns stowed away in some secret room in the Supreme Court building.  They would already be on pdf files and the instant the Supreme Court rules against Trump, email copies would be sent to each Congressman, Senator, prosecutor and newspaper across the country.

You don’t think that is already the case?  Obama probably had copies secured even before Trump came down the Golden Escalator.

You certainly picked the wrong analogy.  There is so much ammunition all over the place, that it is a no smoking area.

Prosecutors seeking anyone's tax returns would need to show evidence of a crime having been committed...why should Trump be any different?

Then they must have something on him.  Why should Trump be any different?

We all have to deal with people whose politics are different from ours.  Get used to it.

Trump certainly IS a party to the case, as his lawyers vigorously argue.  For prosecutors to claim otherwise is a very flimsy argument...one they stand to lose.

Trump's team may have filed an amicus brief.  But I think what they are doing is suing Trump's accountants, seeking to block release of Trump's tax returns.  I'm not sure of that, though.

Actually, I think that's just the beginning.  Trump is going to be in court for years after he leaves office.  That money is going to dry up pretty fast once nobody cares to bribe him any more and his lawyers are eating up what he has left.

Our discussion isn't so much about Trump's tax returns as it is about what Trump will do when he loses his attempt to keep them secret.

I guess that's one way to avoid having inconvenient facts about the merits of the case pointed out to you.

Your tax professional can't even release your information to the IRS unless you give her your permission, and the IRS and its employees can't release any information to your tax professional unless you give the IRS permission.

You do realize that through all this time, the 4A has been in play and the Supreme Court will rule based on that.  No court has the right to look at someone’s documents because that court *THINKS* the individual did something wrong.  If that were the case, then we should all be in fear.  From the Mueller investigation we found out that even if you’re innocent, you can still be sentenced.  Is that the society you want to live in?

Thanks.  I wondered hoe the state knew so much about my Federal return.  I suspect they use a broad category to identify folks, though, like maybe "all."

While the Dems would probably love to get their hands on them, it is the State of New York that is asking for them.  Apparently prosecutors have some evidence of wrong doing and are seeking to follow up on it.

One would have thought that if there is something to this other than a fishing expedition, that this would have been folded into the Mueller investigation or even the impeachment hearings?

Replace "down" with "to justice." and you'll be a lot closer to the truth.

The hearing is less than a month away.  We'll know pretty soon.

Actually, it is Trump's accounting firm that is being ordered to produce his tax returns.  I think they would be happy to comply with whatever the Court orders just to get this mess out of their hair.  But Trump keeps interfering, so here we are.  Do you think the Court will order Trump's tax returns turned over to the prosecutor?  If that order is issued, what do you think Trump will do?

Doug

don't your people ever get bored with this? This is exactly what I said earlier, the mistake the Decorations have been making; so obsessively plotting the next plot against the Master that they just take their eye of the ball completely and forget about any concerns about finding a candidate who's appealing not only to their own constituency but to wavering Republicans and those who aren't committed one way or the other yet. It's this endless plotting that the majority of people outside the Democratic clique find so tiresome.

Will you ever get tired of waiting on this huge plot to unfold?

The real question is for you guys.  How will you react IF Durham starts dropping indictments against several of Obama's former admin officials for spying, falsifying FISA applications, perjury before the Congress and generally attempting to remove a duly elected POTUS?  You'll note that I don't ask IF you react.  We already know the nature of the squealing that will be undertaken by the Dems.

Were you aware that there is no legal compulsion for a president to share his private tax returns?  Are you also aware that anything that might be found will be based on behaviors he engaged in PRIOR to even running for office?  Your attitude just shows that you'll accept ANYTHING to try to take him down.  That's pathetic and I hope it comes back to bite all of you in the ass.

Even though there would be more than enough reason to assume it was ACTUALLY just a lying president with a DOJ willing to do and say anything to please the boss bringing the indictments with or without evidence. I imagine, the reaction wouldn't be nearly as childish and ignorant as those we see from the TCSS crowd here on the forum whenever their messiah gets called out for a reprehensible act.

You guys keep shouting "it's coming! It's coming!" and nothing EVER happens.

So, a crime is no longer a crime or morally wrong as long as you become president before you're found out? That's what it seems like you're saying here....and it definitely makes sense for this crowd.

This is not a Democratic plot.  This issue was raised by the State of New York.  Trump could have put an end to it long ago by complying with lower court orders.  He is the one who continues to fight a losing battle.

But the question is:  What will he do when he loses at the Supreme Court?  I am predicting that he'll defy the Court, creating a Constitutional crisis.  What do we do when he does that?  How do we reassert the rule of law?

No problem:  Durham doesn't have anything or he would have already released it.  It's a pipe dream for conspiracy theorists.
