+and-then Posted February 25, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2020 https://berniesanders.com/issues/how-does-bernie-pay-his-major-plans/ I'm impressed that he was willing to give even this much info on his nutty plans to give everyone, everything without destroying the economy and the country. It amazes me that we have a significant number of Americans who are so delusional and or ignorant that they actually believe a government can do all these things as if by magic. The Left has set themselves up to literally be hoist on their own petard. It's going to be a REALLY stinky petard as well This tottering old fool is even making excuses for Cuba's government while ignoring the 70K dead Cubans Castro crushed under his boot while "making everyone equal". I really hope that Sanders is their nominee. We need as stark a choice as is possible this time around. If this guy or anyone like him ever got the Oval office, wealth would fled this country so rapidly you'd hear a great sucking sound of a vacuum as it went overseas. So... anyone here who'd like to explain why you'd vote for him? Also, could you explain how his plan works when the wealthy will just run for cover? 3

There's an idea that the USA could reduce government debt, in time, by reducing spending by just five percent. You wouldn't even have to cut military spending by 10 per cent to fund Sanders' spending. No new taxes. You'd still be out spending 600 per cent of what China does. 3

Whenever the government claims to have "reduced spending" during any given year what they are really saying is they have cut back on the projected spending increase of that year. Spending still increased, just less than that had wanted.
Crikey Posted February 25, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) If Sanders is the best the Dems have got, Don is already home free for another 4 years.. WIKI, SANDERS- On foreign policy, he broadly supports reducing military spending, In July 2016, he formally endorsed Clinton in her general election bid. He advocated for LGBT rights. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders Edited February 25, 2020 by Crikey

I looked through Bernie`s plan and saw that he wants to establish social standards in the US, which are social standards in a lot of other western countries already, including my home country. Interesting to read that a number of hill people here fear such a development and fear the economy and the country itself to get "destroyed" by such a development. Also interesting to read that these very people feel forced to protect the super rich from higher tax burden. Maybe all these people (here) have an income >30M USD/year, who knows. Interesting as well, the mantra-words "we", "our nation" etc are used in a inflationary fashion by these people, as a try to describe a kind of unity and solidarity, which does not exist over there, but in their fantasy only. Summarized, the US is a developing country related to social issues and a lot of people feel ok with it, to keep the standards low because of "the economyblahblahblah" and "the leftblahblahblah". Beginners. 3

Doug1029 Posted February 25, 2020 #14 Share Posted February 25, 2020 The right may get it's dream: Bernie Sanders as the Democratic nominee. But be careful what you wish for. If we go into the convention with Bernie holding more than half the delegates, then the only question to be answered in the general election is whether Bernie's base is bigger than Trump's (and located in the right places). The one with the largest base and turnout on election day will be the new President. Doesn't matter how good you do or don't think they are. WanderingFool0 Posted February 25, 2020 #16 Share Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) I don't think Sanders necessarily has the answers, but I do see a huge looming problem, that is going to disrupt the entire way the United States and the world does things and that, is the ever increasing level of technology. The current and constant development, of automated systems, robots, artificial intelligence software and 3D printing are changing and will continue to change the way things are manufactured and produced. Over the coming years and decades, more and more workers of all levels of skill will be replaced by machines and the available job market will continue to be further compressed. Human beings whether we like it or not are becoming as obsolete as horses became with the invention and proliferation of the automobile. Who has the answers to those problems, I don't know, but I do know the genie is not going back into the bottle and business isn't going to stifle the technology to save the workers. I also find it completely asinine when Government officials and others bandy about the phrase, "Where will the money come from?" We live in such an upside down and corrupt world where the government has no problem printing money out of thin air to bail out the corporations, the banks and the economy, but when an add hoc team of engineers put together a survey of all of the aging and crumbling infrastructure of the United States and testified in front of a special panel of the senate about the dire state of the infrastructure, one of the members of that panel replied, "That is all well and good, but where will the money come from?" When I saw that report and the clip of that hearing on 60 minutes, I felt like my head might explode. I even yelled at the tv. "You can get the money from the same place you got it for the corporations and banks!" I always find it tragically amusing, when congress always finds the money for those they truly represent; ie the corporations and the banks, but when it comes to stuff that is actually for the people, suddenly money is an issue. I would add that both parties are equally corrupt and guilty and neither have really been about representing the tax payers for a long time. The majority of representation goes to the banks and corporations which through tax loopholes and other schemes always weasel out of paying their full and fair share of taxes, just compare the taxes they pay what ever they are against their profit margins. All I can say in the end, is that watching all the corrupt politicians is like living in the justice league's bizzaro world. That is just my view and opinion on the state of the union Edited February 25, 2020 by WanderingFool0 correction 2

Doug1029 Posted February 25, 2020 #25 Share Posted February 25, 2020 3 minutes ago, OverSword said: But it takes a century It's variable. From planting to steady-state can take 150 years for ponderosa pines, or as little as 40 years for Douglas-fir. Usually we start with a stand that is already established, red oak, for example. We do an intermediate cut which usually produces some income, then wait eight to ten years for a second intermediate cut. After three or four intermediate cuts, we let the stand mature. Those intermediate cuts produced some lumber which is then sequestered in buildings. Also, some income for the landowner. Doug
