Israel holds third Election within a year

Eldorado

"Israeli voters are headed to the polls today for the third time in less than a year, after inconclusive elections in April and September 2019—leading to months of political deadlock.

"It doesn’t seem like this time around will be much different: Opinion polls show that neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party nor the centrist Blue and White party have enough support to form a majority coalition in parliament."

So has the UK, Canada, and New Zealand :P

Israel DOES have the Basic Laws, which fulfil a similar function to a constitution, just as we in the UK have :)

Thousands of Israelis demonstrated outside the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Saturday, calling for an end to his leadership just three days before the country’s fourth election in two years.

Protesters filed through streets closed to traffic by police, waving flags, banging drums, blowing horns and shouting chants to replace the 71-year-old conservative.

The crowd was larger than many previous anti-Netanyahu protests over the past year, with Israeli media reporting it numbered about 20,000.

Apparently, it isn't just the U.S. that's dealing with a radical split amongst its population.  Netanyahu needs to step aside and let the Left in Israel do what they do.  If they survive a couple of years of it, he or one more conservative will be back in power for a decade or more.

Israeli voters once again left Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main opposition without enough support to ensure a parliamentary majority, forcing rival lawmakers to make tough choices or risk subjecting the country to further political paralysis and yet another election.

The head of a conservative Islamic party who has emerged as a kingmaker following Israel’s latest inconclusive election called for change Thursday, without endorsing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or his rivals.

Mansour Abbas’s primetime address was carried live by multiple Israeli broadcasters, underscoring his pivotal role in determining whether a stable governing coalition is possible after last week’s election.
