Belarus Premier urges citizens to drink vodka

"The president of Belarus has shrugged off any concerns about coronavirus - and has urged residents to drink vodka and go to saunas.

"The country has seen no restrictions or lockdowns, with sporting fixtures all being played as normal.

"President Alexander Lukashenko took part in an ice hockey game over the weekend as thousands continue to fill football stadiums.

"Belarusian football organisers have no plans to cancel fixtures or postpone the season, with Lukashenko claiming "sport is the best anti-virus remedy"."

Somehow I’m not surprised by this news. I’m aware of this place. It’s a handy country for Americans and Russians to meet up, easier than Russians in the U.S., or Americans in Russia. Good vodka, good food.
