Iranian Gas Terminal Explosion

Seems a gas terminal in Bazargan along the Iranian-Turkish border has exploded not too long ago.  The explosion does not seem to of been an accident but instead the results of an attack on the terminal.  Currently it is believed the Kurds have attacked the gas terminal with the most likely group being PJAK, also known as the Kurdistan Free Life Party, which is a militant leftist nationalist group with ties to the PKK.  PJAK has had intermittent conflict with Iran over self determination for Iranian Kurdistan since 2004.

If this does end up being an attack done by PJAK then it seems they are trying to capitalize on Iran being weakened from the coronavirus and sanctions.  An armed insurgency in Iranian Kurdistan is probably the last thing the Iranian government wants right now.

If this is an opportunistic strike, it won't be the only one.  As pressure rises on blaming the CCP for this scourge, especially if they have a second wave - almost certain - then civil unrest there could lead to the CCP looking for a distraction to give their people a reason to hate the "outsider".

I thought the Kurds were angels.  Maybe somebody pushed them to do it.  /s
