Eldorado Posted March 31, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2020 "Material found at the site indicates that it housed an elite who had influence over the production of high-status goods. "There was evidence of metal-working in the form of objects like crucibles, whetstones, and moulds, which may have been used in the production of blades. "Textile production was also taking place, along with animal butchery, and possibly leatherworking and other crafts. "The density of the craftworking material found across the site suggests that King’s Seat was an important production centre, not just the site of a small group carrying out production for their own personal use." Then how come they found all their bodies on the frontier in Oxford? Or were you trying to dump them in Wessex because they started to smell?
acute Posted March 31, 2020 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2020 @Piney It's Old English 'ham' and 'ley' around these parts. No 'by' or 'thorpe' like in the Danelaw. The Vikings were so terrified of us, they wouldn't even shout over the dotted line! 1

I told Jules that I was self-isolating, so she sent me DVD box sets of Eastenders, Coronation Street, and Emmerdale. Very nice of her, but she should've dumped all 96 discs in the canal. hetrodoxly Posted March 31, 2020 #20 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Little is known, but it's thought the Picts stretched from the north York moors to the Scottish highlands.

I think they were a pure Britannic sub-culture. Unlike the Arras Culture right below them who had ties to the Continent.
