Forget Trump's daily briefings

I don't watch any of trumps messages.  I don't watch the news.  If I want info on the corono virus I go to my local health org website or the CDC website.  It is crazy to me how people in other countries pay so much attention to our politicians.  What are your politicians doing @thedutchiedutch?  Maybe you could share some of what is going on in your country.

I have been watching Trump's daily Corona Virus briefings and oh boy what a "puppet show" this is. Seriously, I feel sorry for you guys in the USA.
If you still think Trump is a good leader you are in serious denial. You guys deserve so much better so please consider to also watch the following
Corona Virus messengers instead (see link below)

Why do you watch the American Corona virus briefings? surely they don't apply to you.

Well, when the president of the US is more concerned with the tv ratings his briefings are getting rather then the information presented being factual...

I am glad to hear you don't watch the news which includes your president. At least you are being saved of that disaster :) I was born and raised in a small country better known for cheese, tulips and lots of pot. The USA, much bigger country and player in the world and when i grew up well known as the "Police force" of the world, with so much more people and influence so why not pay attention to you guys. I love seeing you guys doing well. Also I have been living for almost 20 years now in Canada like literally a stone throw away from Detroit so American politics affect me :)

Not A Rockstar

I find that link ironic as it is under "entertainment-arts".

True, but, still, ironic.

What do you think of your own leader?

infection is spreading rapidly and it has one of the world's highest mortality rates from the pandemic.

The Dutch have also been accused of failing to show solidarity with countries in southern Europe hit hardest by coronavirus.

So what are the Dutch trying to achieve and how has stricken Italy reacted?

The Dutch are among the few openly embracing the contentious idea of group or herd immunity. It's an approach characterised by one Dutch global health expert as cold and calculated.

Blame it on the Dutch. However this thread i started is about Trump and his response/approach to the Corona virus. Good job deflecting though :)

He did no such thing.  He merely pointed to a factual account of how the government there is choosing to respond to this scourge.  Those around the world who have bought into the modern Trump targeted 2-minute-hate, seem invested in it emotionally and I find that to be disturbing.  I've never seen anything like it.  As to his response, he is the president of the United States of America.  He is not a king or a tyrant with absolute powers.  Those who make those claims about him never provide any evidence so they can be ignored.

Anyone who has the goal of really understanding how this unfolded in real time can easily discern that all state governments as well as DC were saying basically the same thing at the same time.  As more information and more ACCURATE information became available, that approach changed.   Trump assembled a very impressive team of professionals and while he has muddled their message by attempting to sugar coat it some, he has NEVER countermanded any recommendation they've made nor has he attempted to argue with them or dispute their findings on any factual issue related to this virus.

IOW, those who obtain some emotional benefit from their hatred for the man, will continue to feign outrage or confusion over "poor America's" struggle with the orange idiot.

The whole dog and pony show has gotten so old and predictable that I don't even get angry any longer.  As long as people use sketchy info or opinions to attack him, I'll take a few minutes to shine a light on them.

That said... I really do wish you and all your countrymen well in this scourge.  None of us deserve what the CCP government in China could have avoided for us.

I have no hatred for Trump. Seriously just listen to the man and understand how he contradicts his own people, specialists and professionals in their field. It's pathetic.
It's not hatred but pure disappointment because you would expect a world leader to be a bit more tactful, intelligent and graceful. I wish nothing more than the best for everyone in this world especially now and you are right, nobody deserves this.

I don't think very many people listen to his briefings for exactly this reason.  Waffling on things like masks and constantly whining and blaming others doesn't help either.

Exactly, and he is more so touting himself and businesses he likes instead of really making the people feel safe and be taken care of in my opinion.

Why are non Americans so obsessed with Trump?

Seriously how Trump deals with Coronavirus is a problem for the American people.  I can see concern if they are international issues but since he banned most international flights he is hardly spreading it round the world.

I have to turn the radio off at the weekend.  I usually like listening to LBC on my night shift but the presenter Nick Abbott is Trump obsessed.  Replaying and analysing every word Trump says over and over again is completely boring.  Apparently Nick Abbott is worshipped by Londoners which says it all really.  Any left wing propaganda is popular with them.

I watch it every day, I may have missed three to five breifings since he started.

I think a lot of people expect him to have ALL the answers and honestly I think a lot of people want him to wave a magical wand and make all this go away and that simply is not going to happen. Even if he could it still wouldn't be good enough for some people.

I am pleased with our president, he's doing the best he can just like any other country's leader.

And the governor of NY knew in 2015 that their state was short ventilators if there ever was going to be a pandemic, they were informed and had the option and funds then to invest but the state decided to use the money elsewhere but he'll still point the finger back at Trump because that's the what Trump haters do and they find it very easy to do it to him, Thank God he's a strong man and can play the game and take the hits well.

Because they're the ones really making the decisions in these situations the way things are set up. You can stick your head in the sand and say you don't care what these idiots/tyrants/etc. say, but in times like this it's important to know what decisions are being made and what they are saying, whether you buy it or not.

Which is a valid supporting reason why you should be listening to what U.S. politicians in charge are saying, regardless of how silly or wrong you think they are. It's always important to see/know all angles.

I agree. Some people/media are analyzing every single word president Trump is saying and they are doing this over and over again to the point that I stop watching or listening to it because they are officiously biased.

I can't say personally if any politician anywhere in the world is getting this right.

We are all in uncharted territory and apart from China which I do not believe a word that comes out of there, nobody has come up with a solution that has ended their pandemic.

Trump appeared to be slow off the mark to realise the severity of what the US faced, however he was very quick at banning travel and stopping people entering the country.  I think he was caught by surprised how rife it was despite his early actions.

Playing it down will certainly go down as a political error, however the cat was well out of the bag and I think he tried to avoid panic.

It may be however much you lockdown and test with an absence of a vaccine it may well just have to go through the population.

Countries that have stopped the spread may like Spanish Flu see a resurgence in the autumn/winter with devastating effects on their health care systems.
