I think Trump will scrape it but I feel the Democrats hope that Biden will win so they can wheel him off to the nursing home as soon as he goes to La La land and place his no 2 as POTUS.

For any given poll on any given website...  The poll will only give you a vague idea .. of the type of people who spend time there.

It's a nice sentiment but if Trump's election and the last 3 years have proven ANYTHING, it's that those in DC have a media 5th column and can relentlessly attack anyone they don't approve of.  IF he wins in November, I look for the Left to go full spastic.  Hopefully they'll only burn their own cities.

That certainly proved true in 2016 :tu:

They won't.  Just as when Obama was elected for a second term there was a sense of resignation from the right, the left response will be "See, that proves were all racist",  and then proceed with their lives.  Especially after they see what a schmuck Biden will come off as.

Trump says that he does not bear responsibility for anything and he says that his power is total.
Total power without responsibility is the worst.

Fabulous ram........

Trump thinks he is a King:

“His job is to be a leader,” Putnam said. “Not a king, not a commentator, not a rabble-rouser, but a responsible leader in a time of crisis.”

It seems rather childish everytime someone tries to deflect something onto Obama (All social media platforms).

as much as I hate to say it.. Trump.. not because he is doing a good job .. but he is in the media.. Good PR and Bad PR when it comes to a Election.. any PR is good.. his ability to put a spin on anything is to his advantage.. and we all know Don the Con is good at that :)

I don't think Biden stands much of a chance.

RavenHawk would probably say  that President Trump had this planned all along.  Scary if so.  In another four years the federal government  will be an ineffectual vanity club.     States and cities will need to look out for themselves. The old school monied elites will reassert total control and keep President  Trump cheerleading for the right team.

Until the president talked about shoring up oil prices, I was afraid Exxon would have to lay off some of its congress people.

I'm going with Biden. While I highly doubt that he'll "stroke out", if his choice for Vice President is Elizabeth Warren,  then him dropping dead gives you an instant upgrade with Warren.

Yeah, everybody believes that but I disagree.

I offered a lot of ideas in that post.  I doubt everybody agrees with everything I said.  And I’ve added a ton more in this one.

It has to be done right.

Well of course, but we need to solve the problem and not just put a band aid on it where it can be manipulated later.  Too often we treat the symptom but don’t find the cure.  And it becomes worse later on.

First an initiative must be passed at the state level in all or most states concerning campaign finance reform to make it easier for smaller parties to get elected at the state level.

If the need is there to raise a third party, enough people will ban together and make it happen.  If it is too easy then you’ll see fly-by-night parties rise up just to get state funding then close their doors.  Protection against that should need to be part of reform (which I support whole heartedly).  Just how?  First off, we shouldn’t make it easier.  It needs to be difficult, then you are assured that the support for it is real.  Perhaps when it becomes an established party, then it gets equal funding like any other.  Pretty much the way it is now.

You would need a platform (or at least a general idea) before creating a party.  What does it stand for?  It can become a viable party if it can win just one seat in the state legislative.  If it does that, it will be a minority party with no power.  And there is no guarantee that the party will grow.  If by chance it is able to steadily grow, and gain enough representation that assures that no party has the majority.  When that happens, then in order to press an agenda, two of the three parties will need to form a coalition.  And usually by that time, the minor of the two will be absorbed by the major or just dies out (as inconsequential – that’s what usually happens), which in turn, brings us back to a two-party system.  Whether you are in a two-party system or a multi-party system, ultimately you end up with only two coalitions, the party in power and the party out of power.  That’s all there ever is.

Our system is replete with that history.  From Whigs to Bull Moose to TEA to Independents, Libertarians, Green, Constitutional, etc.  The two men (Hamilton and Madison) that vigorously warned about parties in their writings in the Federalist Papers ended up being the leaders of their respective parties in our 1st party system (Federalists, anti-Federalists (Democratic-Republicans)).  Go figure!  And every now and then, our party system would morph and merge, splinter and recoalesce into a new party system, divvying up bits and parts of the previous two.  We are perhaps on the cusp of the 7th party system.  The old Democratic party really no longer exists and between the TEA and Freedom Caucus supporting Trump, the Republican Establishment is dying out.  All throughout that, two things become evident, one, we will never be able to shed the party system (as America is a duality) and two, that no matter what situations arise, we will always have ultimately just two parties.

Again, it’s not that we have two parties, it’s the break down of the parties.  Our party system has become dysfunctional.  None of us born today can envision the sensibilities of the original two parties.  Both feverously pro-American and anti-tyrannical.  The main difference was on the amount of control the central government should have and in turn, how best to serve a nation with such ideology?  All we know is that they were opposite sides of an argument.  That’s no different than today but yet it is.  I would say that by 1913 (arguably), Socialism had crept into our party system and has utterly destroyed it.  It tried the 3rd party route, but didn’t succeed, so it infiltrated the Republicans first, but didn’t find fertile ground.  It did in the Democratic party and things have been going down hill ever since.  Socialism’s primary premise is absolute government, but absolute government does not work within a free people.  The only real solution is how to return our party system back to the original concept?  Where there was a balance between a strong central government and a minimal government.

With Biden deteriorating on a daily basis now, I see that he’ll need to be replaced at the DNC Convention.  That will put us on the verge of the 7th party system.  The Socialist party will emerge out of the ashes of the Democrat party and will sit in the minor party position.  And the new Republican (Trumpian Conservative/Populist) party will hold dominance for the foreseeable future.  Very much like the ascendance of FDR in the 5th party system.  And as this nation begins to open up, Trump rallies are going to take off with a vengeance.  The only reason we had a shutdown was so that the Left could nullify Trump rallies.  Trump’s hand was being forced to err on the side of public safety.  It had nothing to do with covid.

After that those states can elect non-corporate-beholden officials at the federal level and push through legislature concerning that, term limits, lobbying etc.  It may take a bit for people to awake to the possibilities of this especially since they are fed rhetoric that you waste your vote even trying but people ARE waking up to it.  It will happen and we will re-envision the nation possibly within my lifetime.

There is no way to assure that as soon as a candidate declares, corporate America isn’t already at their door.  In fact, corporate money has already given the candidate the support to declare in the first place.  I am all for term limits, campaign finance reform, and lobbying reform but we shouldn’t place stigmas on them.  We should be very careful in how these are restricted.  We can’t restrict them too much or they will find a way to go around and under the table.  That is only human nature and we need to mind human nature, not battle it.  The environment must be as such as to keep all of this above table.  Term limits would force business to constantly invest in lobbying new representatives.  This would prevent the old political machine that would seize power and end up being corrupt (it would be too costly – poor ROI).  Now I don’t think that lobbying should be outlawed.  Corporations are part of this country (or at least they should be) as much as any individual citizen and should have just as free access to their representatives as the people do.

The issue comes in the concentration of wealth.  That is a very powerful tool that needs to be respected.  Business naturally has more than an individual or group of individuals.  A representative must know everyone’s needs in their district.  That’s business and individuals.  They are there to be a referee to conflicting needs.  And choose the best need that will benefit the most people.  Now that’s the way it should be, that isn’t always reality.  As they say, money is the root of all evil.  But that’s just a generic warning, like telling a child to not play around the stove.  They don’t understand the dangers.  Money is not intrinsically evil.  It is how it is used.  If one is not careful, they can end up being burned.  One of the first things to do is to be aware of this danger.  The next thing is not to make lobbying illegal.  As I said, this will force lobbying to go underground.  What needs to happen is full disclosure.  Let business grease the palms of the politicians to their heart’s content, but they must disclose to the public how much they are getting and for what.

Now this is where the crux of the solution comes in.  It is the people that need to be more proactive in the body politick.  Ultimately, they are the masters.  Let the people decide via the ballot as to whether their representative has performed in the best interests of the people?  Again, this is how it should work but it isn’t reality.  So how do you make it the “reality” as well as the “should be”?  That is the solution.  It is the people that have the power in voting.  It is the consumer that has the power over business.  And yet, the public has let both ride roughshod over them.  That’s not to say that government and business are inherently bad.  It’s that the people have forgotten to keep their guard up.  Our culture survives on those three pillars being in balance.  Socialism has pitted worker against business when they are really partners.  Socialism has made government out to be some great protector of the people and that is not what its original function was.  All of this to create division amongst the people so that they can be controlled.  The people need to wake up and seize their responsibility back.

We need to return Civics big time back to the schools and in PSAs, ala an adult “School House Rock”, that goes into what the Constitution is and all the other Founding Documents (Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Federalist (anti-Federalist) Papers).  People need to learn of their individualism.  We need to immerse ourselves back into our history so we can look forward to our future.  That is the cure you seek.

Here's another former Democrat stalwart who will be voting for...Donald Trump:

Democratic Georgia pol Vernon Jones steps down after endorsing Trump

Quote

“I’m sick and tired of me and my family being attacked and harassed by the Democrat Party for putting my country before my party. I take pride in being an independent thinker. My first amendment right to freedom of speech is under siege,” state Rep. Vernon Jones, who is African American, said in a statement released to CBS 46 in Atlanta. “I intend to help the Democrat Party get rid of its bigotry against Black people that are independent and conservative.”

“Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation."

We'll see.  It isn't like I want it to happen but they have escalated consistently since 2016 and I'm not sure how they'll handle the slap in the face from the American people who don't agree with their hysterical hatred of the guy.

Its not hysterical hatred of Trump, per se. Its his choice in fake sun tan that people despise.
