"humanely euthanized"  hmmm.  it didn't ask you for your help.  just because you find a lizard on the sidewalk doesn't mean you own it. we humans think way too much of ourselves.

Poor little guy. 

And just an FYI, if you ever decide to keep a lizard as a pet or what have you, very few are truly suitable for substrate that contains any particulates; sand, gravel, small wood chips, etc. Lizards can often ingest these when trying to catch prey and their little bodies can't process it.

coconut husk is good it's what my daughter uses for her iguana's

Coco fiber is very safe for most animals.
