+OverSword Posted May 22, 2020 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2020 I don't think I would have started eating them. Now their grandchildren will probably be mutants. And not like the X-Men.

Kittens Are Jerks Posted May 22, 2020 #12 Share Posted May 22, 2020 Green egg yolks are nothing new, so not sure what all that fuss is about. Consumption of things like cottonseed meal or an overabundance of alfalfa, for example, can cause the colour change. It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. 4

Acorns, for example, will turn their yolks brown, and sometimes green.

+DieChecker Posted May 23, 2020 #18 Share Posted May 23, 2020 If it was the food, wouldnt all the chickens eggs be green yolks? I'd guess it's probably some mutation that's benign, causing just a color change.
jethrofloyd Posted May 23, 2020 #19 Share Posted May 23, 2020 I prefer the blue egg yolks.
JSeeley Posted May 23, 2020 #20 Share Posted May 23, 2020 (edited) Maybe they're munching on blueberries. Or maybe one found a secret blueberry patch and is keeping it to herself. Blue added to a yellow yoke, well- green. Seriously, I don't know if it's possible, but it's a thought. Edited May 23, 2020 by JSeeley
Bendy Demon Posted May 23, 2020 #21 Share Posted May 23, 2020 ...or it could be a complete hoax. I dunno..the yolk just seems to be too green to be real. I could see a greenish-yellow or perhaps a slight greenish hue but such a vivid green? Sorry..(actually I'm not) but I am just not buying this at all. Or perhaps, some have found a stash of something the others don't know about. 1 hour ago, Bendy Demon said: ...or it could be a complete hoax. I dunno..the yolk just seems to be too green to be real. The olive green colour is typical when it comes to green egg yolks.

openozy Posted May 24, 2020 #25 Share Posted May 24, 2020 Hopefully it is only alfalfa or something organic,I don't think they have great pollution control from industry there.I remember bees were producing green honey, everyone thought it was a novelty until they found the bees were feeding on radiator fluid from cars .
