Looking forward to this, hopefully the weather will not stop the launch?

The problem is that, unlike an uncrewed launch, it's not just the weather at the launch site that could stop it. The weather has to be acceptable at the abort sites too, so that is a fair portion of the Eastern coast up to Canada and an area near Ireland too,

It can be a really frustrating delay.  I had the opportunity to watch a night launch of Shuttle Columbia in 1999.  The mission had the first female commander and it lofted the Chandra X-Ray Observatory into space.  We went down to the observation sight on the Banana River at the Kennedy Space Center and it was scrubbed due to weather, twice.  It finally launched just after midnight on the 23rd of July.

I hope it's the beginning of a new era of success in space.

I've been watching on the NASA TV channel. It's the same as what NASA is putting on the website. Incredible to watch this.

I have yet to see a live launch, family members have visited Florida and were lucky to be there at the same time as a launch.

One day I hope to do the same. :tu:

I'm watching the NASA link and Discovery Channel.  And I periodically flip to other stations to see how they are starting to flip over.

Am I the only one who thinks that Trump, at the last minute, will insist on being one of the two astronauts?

Unfortunately, today's launch of the Crew Dragon mission has just been 'scrubbed', due to weather conditions. The next opportunity to launch will be on Saturday afternoon.

That's normal Shuttles hardly ever got off the ground on the first attempt.

History will not be denied, no matter how small a step it is.  And you thought it was going to go off without a hitch? :)  I know where I'll be on Saturday.

Postponed to May 30th.  Same day that lunar space probe Surveyor 1 was launched.

Ugh, that's 5.22am on Sunday morning over here.

As much as I'm looking forward to this launch, I'm not that motivated!

Incidentally, quick question for the space geeks on the forum.

When the astronauts were strapped in, they each had a small box sitting on their left thighs. The box looked to be about the size of a small sandwich box or a large trade paperback novel. Does anyone know what that box was for?
