Looting in Minneapolis

This was said by a man who was our District Attorney for 28 yrs. He's now a Judge. I think this was well said!

John Morganelli

In one of his more well-known opinions , Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously said that while he could not readily define the term “hard-core” pornography, “I know it when I see it.”

Well, as District Attorney for 28 years, I know MURDER when I see it. The difference between murder and manslaughter is the presence of “malice” . “Malice “ is ALWAYS present in murder but never in manslaughter . “ Malice “ means a hardness of heart or a reckless disregard for the value of human life. I believe that this tragic and chilling photo will go down in history as a defining photo along with photos like the young , naked Vietnamese girl running from napalm. Prayers for this man, his family and our nation are in order.

The transcript of the 911 call was released today. This also has a great live link to tonight.

Set fire to a Police station and loot it.

Sounds like a reasonable response

The live link I just posted above you in post #75 are covering that now. Police have evacuated the building. They also said 500 National Guardsmen have been deployed in Minneapolis and St Paul.

They talked about a 189 unit low income apartment building that was under construction that they burned down last night. A Dollar Store and a restaurant and 2 Target stores. They are burning down their own community. Many are not condoning this behavior and the reporters are making a point of letting their audience know that. They said in a couple of weeks they will begin to realize what all this damage means. The link in post #75 is much better than the first one I posted. The Guard is helping the firefighters get into where the fires are. The Mall of America closed at 2:00 Thursday afternoon and mail delivery has been halted in parts of the city. A lot of public transit has also stopped in areas of the city.

Fires earlier today at a Target and a NAPA Auto Parts in St Paul.

They just said since the police abandoned the 3rd Precinct building they think it will just be allowed to burn. People are throwing wood and debris on the fire to fuel it. Too dangerous for firefighters to go in. They said yesterday a lot of firefighting equipment was damaged. Thankfully no people were hurt. They also just said the fire dept could be staging with the Guard to go in. They don't know. They are also concerned about the virus spreading. Most of the peaceful protesters are wearing their masks. There are many peaceful protests taking place also.

A lot of stuff is being cancelled and closed already for tomorrow. Businesses will not open.

The devastation from Wednesday night was a 3 mile stretch. A jeweler was robbed of $100s of thousands of dollars in gems and watches.

Wow, they just said the mall in Blaine is being looted and there's a car on fire in the parking lot. I'm worried!

They are now reading a letter from the city saying the gas lines to the police precinct have been cut but there are still explosives in the building. They are warning people to move away in case it explodes. Police took a lot of their weapons and ammunition out with them, but they don't know if there is more inside.

Child care has just been cancelled for tomorrow. So much being shut down tomorrow. This will definitely be on everyone's news tomorrow.

200 State Troopers have also been deployed to protect the Nicollet mall. There's still a lot of stores and services that are announcing they are closing.

They are talking about the mall in Blaine. It's being looted and cars are on fire in the parking lot. I just messaged my son and his wife. They're probably in bed but they will see the message when they wake up. I'm really worried about them.

Thanks. I'm just telling her where the news is saying things are happening. There's just been a new outbreak somewhere in Minneapolis. She will know where they are. I hope she will just avoid the areas going into work. I don't know where her clinic has other buildings. I hope everyone stays safe. This is such a beautiful little city.

They are reporting now about Trump tweeting. He is not happy about what is happening. It sounds like there's been some bad blood between him and the mayor. He told the Governor that he will send in the military.

Police just took all apps and scanners offline.

Nobody likes a thief

Even the many protesters who are trying hard to keep things peaceful. They said the fire dept is afraid they can't get to the fires safely. These reporters are saying they are not hearing from an city officials and they want to know why they are just letting this happen. No one has seen the Guard other than the tweet of the hummers with the fire dept. They keep saying Trump is going ballistic on Twitter.

They have the Fire Chief on now and he says it just isn't tenable for them to get to the fires right now. Too much of a safety issue. He says they will try and get the Guard to set up a perimeter. He isn't saying when.

There's another building next to the 3rd precinct building that's also bad on fire. They just showed it. They're saying the fires stretch for half a city block.

Drugstores and grocery stores have been destroyed. The Fire Chief said he's considered air drops but they don't do that.
