Moral of the story we all have second hand knowledge of Hong Kong because none of us currently live there .

And even if someone did it's not like that would solve much.

Take a handful of 50 Americans and they will each have a unique perspective on the U.S. 

However with the internet we all have endless access to people, videos, photos, and articles that are from Hong Kong.

(Unless of course you live in China. Then your access is limited by the Great Fire Wall  and authoritarian levels of censorship)

I know plenty of folks that has been in and out of Hong Kong on a monthly basis, not that difficult, all before the global lock down of course.

Just a reminder, that despite our individual expierences, the 2019 elections in Hong Kong clearly illustrated that Hongkongers support the protesters.

 

It was a landslide victory for pro-democracy candidates.

The extradition bill was successfully removed by Hong Kong legislators.

Which is probably why we now see China saying **** it. They know the lost public opinion.

They passed a law to take away Hong Kongs legal autonomy without allowing Hong Kong to have a say in the matter.

Hence the OP. This is why the U.K is opening up Visa's.

Hong Kong is no longer able to protect their rights with the new act by China.

Personally my only concern with us offering sanctuary to 3M Hong Kongers is were to put them. We'd need a build a lot more houses etc.
