Oh geez.  They couldn't even predict their own demise... yet they're going to magically be correct about the world?

Besides, the stone is just a calendar and not a record of prophecies.

This is exactly the point.

I buy a calander every year. That calendar always ends on 31st December. No one in their right mind thinks that it is a prediction of doomsday.

I wouldn't have thought so. It's been a very quiet year with very little happening.

The Mayans don't even have a End of the World scenario.

It's an interesting theory... that the switch from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar missed out 8 years. But here's the thing.....

a) It's not true; we didn't lose 8 years, and

b) The Mayans didn't use the Julian calendar anyway :D

Could they not have said this earlier, like the beginning of the year?

Good to laugh at these rediculous so called prophecies which come out half way during the year after the horse has bolted.

And worse, if we're thinking of the same stone, it isn't even Mayan, it's Aztec!

I mean if the Jehovahs are in on the current "the world is ending this year" nonsense, then why not the New Agers as well?

None at all, or was it like the Aztecs where the world "ended" regularly and was rebuilt/repopulated?

Show me a source for that because the Paiute and Shoshone, the people the Aztecs originated from, didn't have that scenerio.
