UM-Bot Posted June 18, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2020 (IP: Staff) · A large balloon-like 'UFO' has captured the attention of local residents, the media and even the government. https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/337672/japanese-authorities-investigate-mystery-object 1 Top
jbondo Posted June 18, 2020 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2020 A balloon flying above Japan has gone viral. Further reinforcing my point that people are becoming more mindless by the day and feel a need to record absolutely everything and post it on the internet. I'm sure if it flew low enough, there'd be those who just had to take a "selfie" with it. 4 1 3 Top
jethrofloyd Posted June 18, 2020 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2020 If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. So, if it's flying like a ballon, then it probably is a ballon! 5 1 Top
Jon the frog Posted June 18, 2020 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Probably a meteorological balloon that overachieved his life expectancy or underachieved his altitude... 4 2 Top

qxcontinuum Posted June 18, 2020 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) And they have not sent a helicopter or a drone to investigate? It does look like it carries something underneath. Edited June 18, 2020 by qxcontinuum 1 Top

But I think that I would start with a pair of old fashion binoculars. -Yep, its a balloon, call of the missilestrike, Mr President. 4 Top

Jujo-jo Posted June 20, 2020 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2020 Hmmm... not much of an investigation seems like they would have a pilot up there, sight on scene and like there would be more footage...

ChrLzs Posted June 30, 2020 #12 Share Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Here's one we prepared earlier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozjzrQ4BxkM I am sadly amused by the way they say it isn't a met balloon, after talking to just ONE met agency....???? Grr. Met balloons are used for lots of different experiments and are often loaded with all sorts of odd stuff including solar panels, materials or devices to measure (- or being tested for their ability to withstand -) low-pressure, cold, cosmic radiation, etc. Here's what appears to be a shot of either the original or a very similar balloon at a different angle to show its payload, grabbed from here.
