Police have release information about Smoker's cell phone record search saying he texted his 15 yr old brother at least 15 times in the 2 hrs immediately after Linda's abduction. The brother has not been charged with anything. They did not release any information about the search warrants on Smoker's house or car.

This is the last thing I found about her. It isn't much. They searched again on October 22 and found nothing. Apparently, Smoker isn't saying anything. He remains in custody. He was ordered to stand trial for her abduction.

It's a shame Lancaster Online and Penn Live are both now subscription only to view. They would have all the local news updates. There was some articles from November but I can't open or read them. WGAL is a Lancaster TV station.

When I was in Lancaster a few months ago. I saw her poster in a restaurant and remembered hearing about her disappearance on the news.

Thanks for the update.

Justo Smoker has just been charged with homicide.

https://www.wfmz.com/news/area/pennsylvania/man-charged-with-homicide-in-death-of-kidnapped-woman/article_e3ca0712-43a8-11eb-9820-238e0ec84a79.html?fbclid=IwAR3qHmZf-jqk5tRU95Y58RPXJFKkT-ndh12uKG4ZDkjkQ0_WFiUjk35dHtU

"Given the circumstances of Linda's disappearance; specifically, that she was forcefully abducted by a stranger, we always feared she suffered a tragic fate," said District Attorney Heather Adams. "After careful consideration of all of the facts uncovered by the investigation as a whole, we are now in a position – legally – to charge Smoker with murder."

That evidence, they said, includes the discovery of Stoltzfoos' buried bra and stockings in an area that Smoker had visited several times in the days after the Amish woman disappeared, according to his cell phone data. One of the stockings, investigators added, contained Smoker's DNA.

They also said that Stoltzfoos was dependent on her family and her community, with whom she had a positive and fulfilling relationship, and that her failure to communication with anyone she knows is evidence that she's no longer living.

Good. When you have cell phone data that leads to a location that has her clothing with his DNA on it, he can deny it till the day he dies, but the facts are there, not to mention what he actually texted his brother 15 times as well. There is no doubt she is dead.

It is a terrible ending but not an unexpected one. Hopefully now her family and friends will find some closure and Smoker will get the justice he deserves.

There is always the possibility that it isn't her. Someone else was found who has been missing.

I think it will test out to be her remains though.

This is a local news site. I just listened to their nightly report. Authorities are confident they have found the remains of Linda Stoltzfoos. Some articles of clothing found with the remains match her. She was found buried about 42 inches deep in a shallow grave near the company where Smoker had worked. They think he put the remains there a few days after he killed her. They had charged him with murder after they found his DNA on stockings they had found earlier. They believe she was killed within hours of her abduction and originally buried where the previous articles of clothing were found. The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Smoker remains behind bars without bail.

The remains have been positively identified as being those of Linda Stoltzfoos. The autopsy showed she had been strangled and stabbed.

The news just said she was stabbed in the neck.

Smoker's trial date hasn't been set yet, but this is a very well written article detailing the disappearance, the search, the suspect and the aftermath after her body was found. Very good if someone wants to read it. I'm sure we'll hear when he does come up for trial.

Smoker pleaded guilty today and received a 35 1/2- 71 year sentence. He avoided the death penalty. That wraps up this case.

https://wbng.com/2021/07/23/man-pleads-guilty-to-kidnapping-killing-young-amish-woman/

He will face more charges for parole violations. He could get an additional 17 years.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/man-pleads-guilty-to-kidnapping-killing-young-amish-woman/2021/07/23/2a3edb06-ebdc-11eb-a2ba-3be31d349258_story.html?variant=116ae929826d1fd3

Smoker was on parole from string of armed robberies he committed in 2006. He was released from prison in February 2019, 16 months before Stoltzfoos was killed.

Still amazes me that people will take peoples lives like this , then do all kinds of plea agreements to save their own.

Sometimes it amazes me that they are allowed to make plea agreements but in this case, I think it was so he would take police to her body so they could recover it for the family.
